image For months ago I posted with 2 stars about our irrigation system installed by Vox Landscaping & Construction. Our complete landscaping job with Vox was just over $40,000. At the 3 year 2 month point we had had about 6 leaks, one major with an end cap blowing off. In the 4 months since we have had an additional 5 leaks in our new irrigation system installed by Beth. We are now looking to replace a big part of our piping. One landscaper said it was installed too close to the surface and should have been laid on a bed of sand, that being close to surface it gets walked on and thus it is bending and springing leaks, but I don't know this for sure. The previous water system was 23 years old and didn't have this many leaks. Irrigation systems are meant to last more than 4 years, especially when you pay $7K to $8K just for just the irrigation system (our yard isn't that big).
During the planting phase she substituted other variety of plants than those agreed upon. Some plants were not appropriate for the exposure. She didn't consider that in summer a location gets all day sun versus in winter when it would be partial sun and those plants burned up when summer came.
Just beware, cost is not always commensurate with quality of work. She only gives you a 30 warranty on plants and 90 days on the irrigation system. Have any problems after that she tells you to call another landscaper, they don't do service work.

image Such a fantastic company & team of people! They listened to what we wanted and then designed & delivered exactly as promised. They had to start from scratch - a dirt backyard. What we have now makes us so incredibly happy! It’s exactly like the design video they presented, too! Love, love, love our fountain with its lighted scuppers! Their crew are neat, polite, and the hardest workers! And the end results show it off in spades. Thank you, Beth, Clint, Kat, Matt, Jose, Henry, and the rest of the guys! We love how it all turned out!

image I attempted to initiate a project with Vox Landscaping after visiting the Phoenix Home and Garden show in March. At that time I spoke with Clint and we were agreed that the budget I had in mind of $10-20k for a front yard remodel was realistic and reasonable and something Vox would be interesting in working on with us.
At a later date Clint came out to our home and we discussed the project on site and in more detail, again under the assumption that my budget was $10-20k. I advised him I was working on a landscaping design with another company and that I would like Vox to bid on the design. We were agreed that when the design was ready I would send the plans to Clint for estimation and bid.
I sent the plans to Clint to review with the owner and for a bid. This is where a word of caution should be noted when/if one were to engage with this company. They were not forthright nor were they respectful of my time.
Clint is not empowered to make any important decisions so know who you are dealing with. The budget we had in mind was always clear in the conversations between Clint and I. My decision making process always included 3 companies from whom I would ask for a bid. Vox was consuming a slot on my "short list" when they never had any intention of doing what they regard as a small project.
I have no idea what Vox/Clint thought they were doing but every minute of my time speaking with Clint was wasted and that fact only became apparent when I asked them to bid on the job. I am glad I figured out how they operate before I spent any money with them. I would suggest you pass this company up and move on to one of the many other landscaping firms out there who have a much better handle on their sales cycle than Vox and who are more forthright in their dealing during the sales cycle.
This collection of facts and screen shots speak for themselves so all I can say is buyer be aware. The following is the text conversation between Clint and I.

How are things going?

Hi Issam!
I met with Beth the owner about your project yesterday.
She is hesitant to take it on as we are currently booked up thru June.
And I know you guys are looking to make a decision this week and get moving.
She feels we might not be the best fit at this time.
I apologize for the bummer news and wish I could provide you with a better answer. Just not my call.
ME 4/4/19 1:24 PM
Is the hesitancy exclusively a question of schedule and resource unavailability?
Clint 4/4/19 1:30 PM
Scheduling and project scope. It's a bit small, our minimum is $20k, with most of our projects landing about $40-75k, due to us only having 2 crews we take on those we can really settle into.
Now come summer once we slow down a bit we take on some in the $15-20k range as needed.
It's always hard and frankly a bit uncomfortable for me to explain this to homeowners as I completely understand that your project is extremely important to you and I am not trying to make you feel it's not to us...
ME 4/4/19 1:47 PM
This has been a sub-optimal experience and I feel my time has been wasted. Please convey that to the owner and thank you for your time.

image I had a great experience working with Vox. Beth and Clint made an appointment with me from the Home and Garden show and showed up on time. Two other contractors never even showed or bothered to call. We met and discussed ideas about my yard. A few weeks later we met on the design that they came up with, which I loved. (Much more creative than another design that was done for me.) I decided to go with Vox because they were the most consistent and were really focused on my needs. Plus, they had won the BBB ethics award which was impressive.
My yard turned out great and the attention to detail seemed really good. No schlocky work. Beautiful design and choice of plants and materials. I couldnt be happier. Thank you Vox!
