I would have written this review earlier, but I have been enjoying my new back. (Okay, I've been taking it easy as advised..) Last summer, as I was once again 70 going on 30, my back experienced its final straw while I was working on a Kenai recreation site. After months of chiropractic and physical therapy, I was still experiencing pain and the inability to pull off many daily tasks. The first person I want to thank is my wife who did the research and found Dr. Maxwell and Arctic Spine Institute. I commented that Dr. Maxwell sounded too good to be true..you know what is said about something that is too good to be true. I already had an MRI which Dr. Maxwell reviewed free of charge and gave me a call. At an appt later that week, Dr. Maxwell went over the MRI and xrays with us and diagnosed my situation. He stated that the procedure would be fairly routine (easy for him to say) to fix the 2 gnarly discs and free up the nerve that was causing me pain. When I told him my brother had back surgery in Florida 5 years ago at age 70 and now has train tracks running up his back, Dr. Maxwell responded that there are doctors out there that would give me a train track, too. He vowed he would do the least invasive procedure to correct the damaged discs and compressed nerve and that, in fact, is exactly what he did.
Dr. Maxwell is straight forward, professional, and committed to giving patients the least amount of surgery that brings back quality of life. His entire staff is skilled, thorough, and highly personable. Lucy went above and beyond in handling all the paperwork and insurance details. Dr. Price spent more time with us than any anesthesiologist weve encountered. Our main nurse, Jessica, was no less than fabulous, and we can say there were no Nurse Ratcheds at Arctic Spine. The facility is first class, spotless, and the atmosphere is far superior to any other place of surgery weve experienced..& at our ages, weve seen more than a few. After our first post-op visit, we sat in the large reception area and listened to Betsy play great music on a Steinway Grand. We would send all the people we love there should they need an outstanding neurosurgeon and medical practice.

My husband recently had a 2-level cervical fusion and I cannot say enough good things about Arctic Spine. From the ease of scheduling our initial consultation, to Dr. Maxwell getting us an MRI appointment that same day, to easy access to the kind and respectful office staff and doctors, Arctic Spine exceeded our expectations on every level. Although wed initially been hesitant to schedule the surgery in an outpatient center rather than a hospital, after experiencing the outstanding level of care at Arctic Spine, wed choose them again. Highly recommended!

Dr. Maxwell and Dr. Price have worked on my cervical spine and lumbar spine several times. My case is unique due to injuries and degeneration. However each time I have had a procedure I leave in better shape. Without their care, my quality of life would be far less.

I started experiencing a lot of pain between my shoulder blades, numbness and weakness down my arms and hands, and continuous headaches.
A colleague and friend of mine recommended I consult Dr. Marius Maxwell for a second opinion.
On March 20, 2015 I consulted with Dr. Maxwell. He took one look at my MRI from November 2014 and told me that I had a CSF leak in the T1 area and it was not a blood seroma.
He also informed me that I had a herniated disk between T1 and T2.
Dr. Maxwells planned procedure for me was to address the CSF leak and preform a T1 - T2 fusion with instrumentation.
On March 26, 2015 Dr. Maxwell preformed a diagnostic nerve block in the T1, T2 level to conrm his diagnosis.
On April 8th, 2015 Dr. Maxwell preformed a surgery T1-T2 surgery Bilateral Laminoforaminotomy and nerve root decompression and T1-T2 Fusion with Instrumentation. and addressed the CSF.
Dr. Marius Maxwell has been invaluable in helping stop my chronic CSF leak and keeping my pain level down and my spirits elevated.
I feel Dr. Maxwell has been and still is truly concerned for my health and well being and I would highly recommend him to my family and friends.
Last week December 31, 2021 Dr. Maxwell came to my rescue once again
and repaired a faulty C4-5 fusion that was preformed by another surgeon back in 2014.
The staff at Arctic Spine were totally professional and were genuinely concerned about my comfort and well-being. The surgery went without a hitch and was textbook.
I was up and about within a few hours and on my way home with no ill affects. One week later I have almost full range of motion of my cervical neck.
Dr. Maxwell and his staff are true professionals and I would recommend Arctic Spine to anyone that is experiencing spinal difficulties.

Dr. Maxwell, Dr. Price and the Arctic Spine Surgery Center team offer the finest in laser spine surgery with an excellent team of compassionate, caring surgeons and medical professionals. Dr. Maxwell's expertise in the field of laser spine surgery has benefitted me greatly due to the gentler nature of laser spine surgery.
