Update: owner responded, I called the number he said to speak to him directly I had suspicion that it was a scam and ding ding ding, it was! First thing I heard was, are you over 50? We have a deal for you today! Press 1 to claim now!
I was working with a lovely gentleman named Jay, who deserves 5 stars all the way. He and I had set a deal to have my interest wiped and I heard one of the supervisors agree to that while on the first phone call of the day trying to settle all debt I owe. After offering me many different ways to pay and trying to make what I had work, Jay placed me on hold to have a supervisor move forward with the payment. He came back from my hold to let me know the supervisor declined what another had approved and now instead of being debt-free Im in the same place I was before the hours I spent today on the phone with them. Those supervisors should be ashamed of themselves and I hope none of them can sleep at night knowing how they treat people.

Got a call from a woman at this shady company telling me first thing that I needed to give her my address and social security number, before she even told me what kind of business she had with me. Considering that there were multiple red flags for phishing right away in this call, I hung up and googled the number. When I discovered it was a collections agency, I suspected a medical bill I was actively disputing and called back to get more information. When I told the woman she sounded very much like phishing, she had no good excuse for her treacherous behavior.
It turned out that the bill I was disputing was pending (though it should not have been at a collections agency to begin with). But there was another bill in collections from two years ago that I had never seen, and that was for a family hospital visit I had nothing to do with and had not consented to pay.
When I explained all this to her, said I would be contacting the provider directly and was unwilling to deal with a collections agency, she said so youre refusing to pay? I told her no, that I would be dealing directly with the provider, and that they should not contact me any more.
While she agreed to put me on their Do Not Call List, she made it sound like I didnt have the right to insist I was going to be dealing directly with the provider. This I know to be not true.
Dont let these bad actors bully you. Learn your rights. And be very careful if you use the Providence ER. They use a third party called Alaska Emergency Medicine Associates for their physician staffing and that companys affairs are a shambles. They do not follow best practices and will refer you to collections rather than take accountability for their negligence.

There is something up with this place they called about account that I paid and closed and now they say we owe a company money that I know for a fact we dont owe.
