Ive worked on your dog for 4 hours and Im tired and Im going home. These were the exact words Dr. Buxton said to us after we had taken our dog to her. This specific weekend, Dr. Buxton was working the weekend shift at the Emergency Animal Clinic just off Governors Drive. Our Bassett Hound, Daisy, had been attacked by two other dogs on a Saturday afternoon so we rushed her to the hospital. After diagnosing and treating for her for about 4 hours, Dr. Buxton is ADAMANT that we euthanize her due to her injuries. It was about 10:00 PM when this occurred. In addition to the comments above, she also told us besides, you only have a year left with her at best. REALLY???? I insisted on a second opinion, not because of the prognosis, but because Dr. Buxtons lack of ability to be open-minded. And heres a tip Buxton: If you sign up for weekend emergency room work, you may have to stay late and skip supper to care for the animals. The next morning, we took Daisy to Dr. Galbraith, an angel on Earth, in Pulaski, Tennessee. Dr. Galbraith stated that Daisy might eventually have to be euthanized, but we wouldnt know for 48-72 hours. Daisy stayed with Dr. Galbraith about a week and is now home and fully recovered. This is not an indictment on Wall Triana Animal Hospital itself. If you do patronize this establishment, then I would just ensure that you choose another of their doctors. How sad if we would have listened to this ladys advice.. How many other pets has she needlessly euthanized? Dismayed, Daren Carter
