Im not really sure if the people leaving positive reviews for this apartment complex are delusional, or friends of the apartment staff trying to bring light to a negative situation. This apartment complex, and its staff is by far the worst decision you could ever make. Even if a $2000 apartment complex is not really in your budget please do your research and read reviews. If you would like to live in a place where management and staff dont care about you having mice, mold, ants and smelly neighborhoods the river view apartments are a great option to you! If I could leave this place zero stars I would. Just look at the garbage construction and architecture of this dump? What a great disappointment

On October 7, 2023, I moved into Riverview Apartments in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with my then six month old son. We developed allergies that turned into pneumonia, bloody cough, bloody noses, and so much more almost immediately. After going to the doctor a number of times, and not getting better, in early December, I asked the apartment complex to rule out mold by running a test. They ran the first test themselves and claimed the results were normal mold common in houses. They never provided me with the results of that test, still to this day. They agreed to open up three spots in the apartment to look for mold. Under both sinks, and per my request, the bathroom ceiling where there was noticeable past water damage. Just before beginning the work, they postponed with me and asked to take a second test with no explanation why, and 44 days later The results show that there is aspergillus penicillium, a dangerous mold, and it should not be inside of a home at all. They again claimed it was normal. I asked them to hire a professional after their unprofessional claim of it not being dangerous, and they denied hiring a professional so I did it myself at the cost of $469. The results came back to show not only is the aspergillus penicillium showing up, but there are two types of very dangerous black mold that is showing up on the air quality test, which almost never happens unless it is incredibly heavy levels (Chaetomium and Stachybotrys). I asked for a release from my lease. All I wanted was to be able to go find a new safe, healthy place for my son and I to live. They denied it and required me to stay there and pay them rent or pay $4k+ to be released from the lease (which I didnt have). I brought the action to court via an ETRA and rent escrow for March rent and it has taken well over a month to have it be seen by a judge. I had a witness in front of the judge at the second hearing (3/8/24), the person who rented the unit before me, testify to the fact that there was extreme water damage that they informed management about, but it went without resolution. He was also very sick. Riverview Apartments/marathon management hired an attorney the day before trial to defend them. I was never notified of him, and his whole claim during the court hearing was that I never gave him any information. But how could I have since I never knew about him? he was the most disrespectful attorney I have ever heard speak. I recorded the entire trial. Because of the sheer disrespect of this attorney, with no regard to me as a person, just trying to fight for whats rightfully mine, including my health, the referee Franklin Reed told me that my evidence was not admissible because I needed a professional expert witness to testify on behalf of the mold test results. I was not aware that that was required, and I asked for an extension, but I was not granted that. They dismissed my case in favor of the landlord and asked that I pay their attorneys fees. I believe the landlord knew about the water damage, they must have known something about mold,(previous tenants via Google reviews show that they moved out due to mold) and they have completely disregarded their duty to provide a safe housing unit. The fact that they are hiding the first test or lying about ever doing it, and the fact that they have never given me reports of any of the maintenance done on water damage in the past years, even after they agreed to show me this, is evidence that they are withholding the truth. They have never denied that there is mold, they have just told me that its not dangerous, keeping in mind that they are not professionals. A quick Google search on the three types of mold will have you reading about how incredibly dangerous they are to be around and how detrimental they are to human health. I share my story in full truth in hopes that it might save someone the mental and physical damage its caused myself and my infant son. There is nothing more important than our health. Please stay away from this apartment complex if you can.
