Dr. Ainsworth is amazing and personable. His staff is even more amazing! He walked me through a very effective treatment plan for my son and worked closely with his general dentist to ensure progress. Also, my daughter had her first consultation and is closely being monitored although she still has majority of her baby teeth. Lastly, he educated me on facts and myths about braces. I learned that they could help my jaw alignment issues. I had severe pain and headaches. I had no idea that braces could correct such issues. He is very knowledgeable and approaches each case delicately. We are very grateful to Dr. Ainsworth. He has given us more than just great smiles! He will always be our family's only orthodontist! I would certainly not recommend orthodontist Joseph Ainsworth of Irving, Texas for orthodontic treatment. I was a patient of his years ago and his hands were shaking so badly, his assistant had to take over for him and finish the work due to his advanced age. Now he is probably close to 80 years old or maybe even older. When I went in to their office the first time to see about getting braces, I thought I would meet with Mr. Ainsworth to discuss treatment, but instead I only saw one of his assistants and spoke with her about treatment. I never saw Mr. Ainsworth until after I had agreed to treatment, signed the contract, and made an initial large down payment for treatment. I saw Mr. Ainsworth for the first time when I went in for my first day of treatment to have the braces put on. I realized that the reason they keep him out of view until the patient has already made a financial commitment was for the fact that probably no one would return once they saw how old he is. I felt like I had been scammed and never would have gone with this orthodontist had I known that he was very old. I felt he should have retired a long time ago. Mr. Ainsworth never did any of the work himself. His assistants changed the wires as he simply could not hold his hands steady enough to do the job. He tried one time and was unable to complete the task and his assistant had to take over. After they had finished, he would glance & what they did and always say "it looks good". And I was paying all this money for an assistant to treat me? How he is able to still practice orthodontics, which requires manual dexterity, is beyond me. I ended up transferring to another orthodontist and sent Dr. Joseph Ainsworth a letter asking for a partial refund for the money I had paid him up front for work that had not yet been done. He refused to refund these unearned funds. I would advise anyone seeking orthodontic treatment to steer clear of Mr. Ainsworth and choose another orthodontist for your treatment – one that actually does the work you are paying for.
