Rented an apartment from Dan for 4 years and would definitely recommend. Good price and service with lease that was simple and fair to both parties(no early payment discount loophole etc.)

"Management" is negligent, unpleasant, difficult to reach, and inconsiderate, raising the cost of rent yearly while failing to make any updates to the properties under their nonexistent "management". Agree with other reviews: Dan is a slumlord and ignores code violations.

Dan is unreliable, unresponsive and negligent, renting grossly overpriced, laughably deteriorated and outdated properties. He'll tell you that your rent is a certain amount when it's actually higher, and then take the difference out of your security deposit rather than, you know, be honest and communicate. Speaking of communication, he's dishonest, unprofessional and downright passive aggressive. A fellow leasee told me that he threatened to evict them simply for repeatedly calling about a maintenance request that he chose to never address. Another told me of an instance where he changed the building lock without informing them (obviously not legal). Every other negative review here is spot on. He appears to prioritize maintaining the sizeable Ninja Turtles action figure collection in his office over, you know, the buildings that he's supposed to manage. Looking for a decent property management company in the downtown Madison area that actually do what they say they'll do (what a concept)? The McBride Companies were responsive and honest from what I remember a few years ago.

The one star is given only out of necessity to share my review. The truth is that Dan Hauser provides absolutely no management services, at all ;instead, he behaves as a textbook "slumlord", existing to do little else than collect rent checks (which even then, he takes inexplicably long to deposit). Maintenance requests are ignored, and buildings are kept far from up-to-code. He inconsistently employed one contractor to work on multiple buildings as the go-to "maintenance guy", who disclosed to me on more than one occasion that Dan does indeed look at maintenance requests, only to dismiss them ,no matter how urgent, as "over our budget". The contractor also detailed multiple attempts to collect the money that Dan owed him for his work, only to be ignored. PLEASE consider renting elsewhere!
