YMCA Northern Rock County

Overall, not too bad. The equipment is nice, and it's never that packed when I go so I can use what I want and get done pretty quickly. However, the men's steam room is a funk zoo. The smell is absolutely abhorrent. I had to buy a citrus spray to have in there in order to breath. What this Y needs to do in the locker room areas is a light refresher (and a damn good deep clean). The shower heads need to be replaced, as well as the curtains. Those should be replaced monthly if we're being honest with how often they're being used. Come to mention it, I don't think I've ever seen a cleaning person cleaning the locker room when I've been there. Could be due to hire someone to maintain the cleanliness. As far as the steam room, seems it needs to be shut down for a good deep cleaning with lots of bleach to get rid of that smell. So overall, good but could be great with a refresher so we can actually enjoy the amenities they have to offer!

I will never recommend this YMCA to anybody. An employee by the name of Kelly M has had a personal issue with me and took it upon herself to create a lie, stating that I had said something that was never the case. I took it up with the Director of Fitness,Niqi, who verified for me that no such statement was ever made. The issue I have is the employee that caused the problem was never spoken to nor reprimanded. This employee not only made up a lie stating I did not want my child near a certain trainer, but also put my child in the middle of this as well as a very good trainer that i a Solti had zero issues with. Until till that point I had a very positive review of the YMCA in the week I had taken my child there. The sad part is I even wrote the Board of Directors a letter and gave them all the documentation showing what was stated between all parties, and was never contacted. It was harassment at its finest by their employee in which they did nothing about. I will never recommend anybody to use this facility.

Comments about it being a bit dated are true but not so bad as to rate 1 star.Recently replaced all the gym equipment.Staff seem nice.
