Girl Scouts of Wisconsin - Badgerland

Badgerland Girl Scouts is awful! We tried to sign up for scouts but they keep creating new troops in our rural area rather than consolidating them. To explain, G.S. requires a certain number of girls, of the same age, before you can have troop become active. So, unless you live in a populated area, you cannot be in a troop or at least not one that is active. Your child is assigned a troop number but can't start doing anything until you've meet that number of children AND have two leaders. The organization doesn't tell you that, of course, until after you paid the fee, not only for your child but for yourself as a troop leader. I sought out help from the corporate office but they did NOTHING. So ultimately my daughter never got to be part of an active troop. We decided to do our own adventures and I attempted to buy a sash from the Girl Scout store in Janesville (for our activity patches, that I buy on eBay). However, I was refused because "only girl scouts can buy sashes". Seriously?! It's a dying organization and its their own fault for being ridiculous about troop formation, salesmanship, business practices, etc. As former member myself, I caution you: Stay away from girl scouts, it's NOT what you remember!! I'd give zero stars if Google allowed it.
