I have trained at a few gyms, from small teams too large world renowned competition teams (back when I was a young lad). I have tried a few gyms in the Fox Valley, was at one for awhile. I can say without being biased, or trying to slam another gym, FVGC has the most knowledgeable coaching staff in all facets of Martial Arts, 4 BJJ Black Belts is EASILY the most you will find in one location in the area, and possibly the state ( not 100%) their credentials aside from being black belts also speak for themselves. They foster a very welcoming environment. They have beginner classes for the new people so that they don't feel extremely intimidated or even worse, get hurt potentially, it keeps students wanting to come back, they see the progression and they keep a positive state of mind, that alone sets itself apart from other gyms in the area. The classes are not ran like a military platoon, they give you the respect you give them. That is very important as some schools hold their head coaches or other students up like Gods, we all put our gi pants on 1 leg at a time. Coach Matt the Muay Thai coach is PHENOMENAL and holds 2 titles in different organizations. Coach Kegan, fresh off his pro win, former UW Badger wrestler, very well rounded and always willing to share knowledge. I can say that about everyone there, all the coaches all the students. Everyone there wants to see everyone succeed, there is no mat jealously. They TRULY are one team. I am honored to be a part of the FVGC team and look forward to a long and progressive future with the team, come check it out!
