Chris is a great instructor and can articulate the details of different techniques. He also has a great group of people to train with. Highly recommend.

Supportive and welcoming training environment - highly recommended. While grappling is new to me, I have a martial arts background which has seen me through several different studios and training environments over the years. Columbia River Jiu Jitsu is one of the best. The classes are collaborative, supportive and ego free. Everyone is free to work at their own pace and level, and Chris has so much knowledge to share. Whether you are new to the sport and want to feel safe, or are an experienced practitioner looking to up your jiu jitsu and MMA game, Columbia River Jiu Jitsu has you covered

I have known & trained with the head Instructor Chris Nakato & crew for almost 8 years now. The students here at Columbia Jiu-jitsu are extremely fortunate to have a highly skilled, patient & brilliant Instructor as Sensei Nakato to guide them through their Jiu-jitsu journey. I would not pass up the opertunity to join & train here. Ronin

I've been training with Chris Nakato at Columbia River Jiujitsu for the past 6 months, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed by the friendly and supportive community. Chris Nakato and the entire team of instructors are not only highly skilled but also incredibly dedicated to helping each student improve. The training here is top-notch. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, the classes are structured to accommodate everyone's skill level. The curriculum is well-designed, and the techniques are taught in a clear and engaging manner. What's even better is the emphasis on safety and respect on the mats. What truly sets this place apart is the positive and inclusive environment. I've made significant progress in my Jiujitsu journey, and I attribute much of it to the encouragement I've received from both the instructors and my fellow students. It's not just a gym; it's a supportive community that feels like family. If you're considering learning Jiujitsu, I highly recommend Chris Nakato at Columbia River Jiujitsu. It's a place where you'll not only learn valuable self-defense skills but also grow as an individual. Six months in, and I can't wait to see where this journey takes me next!
