It was nothing but inconsistencies and miscommunication from the very beginning. I worked for The Key for a year and a half. When I signed on it was Home Care Assistance and I signed paperwork for a sign on bonus after 6 months when I sent an email asking about the bonus I was told that even though I signed that paperwork, my actual start date was after that program expired and I wasn't eligible. I was told I could work all the overtime I wanted but then when the company decided to change that (which I found out from my client, not the company and when I mentioned it to the company I was told that there's too much "oversharing" between caregivers and clients) they ended up removing one of my 2 shifts with that client without informing me at all or consulting with my to see if I had a preference on which shift I would want to keep. They ended up begging me to take the shift back that they took from me because the client ended up without coverage and missing crucial dialysis appointments. Another time I had a regular client Monday through Friday and when I looked at my schedule Sunday the client was just gone....I never received a call. When I called the after hours office line I was told "we aren't providing services for that client at this time" leaving me blindsided and the client without care. I received a text before Thanksgiving from my staffing manager remining us that Thanksgiving and the day after were time and a half so I took a 12 hour shift the day after only to be told later in an email that that text was incorrect and would not be honored. The final straw was when I agreed to take on a difficult case (ALS and hoyer lift) when I asked what the pay increase would be as the company pays on a scale based on difficulties and requirements of each client and case, I was told that I never should've been making the $19 I was already making with my previous VA client but they would be willing to keep me at that. At that point I gave my 2 weeks notice and now work for a wonderful agency who pays me $24 an hour with my VA clients and treats me and my clients with the level of respect and care that you would expect from a care agency.

I have worked with Thekey for a years, I love this company because they have a good schedule for the caregivers. They care about the clients well. The make sure the clients are safe. They understand what their clients and their caregivers need. They give you whatever the schedule that you like. Also, they make sure if the caregivers are giving enough care to their clients.
