Monterra Apartments

Would not reccomended moving to these units. As other reviews mentioned, they are poorly constructed, maintained and dirty. Upon moving in one window had horrible water damage from a leak in the floor above, missing patches of carpet on the spikes leading to other rooms (was told we would need to move out for them to fix the carpet that was an issue before we even moved in?). Shared washer and driers are often broken, dirty, or left full of clothes for hours if you dont move the clothes yourself. For the past 5 months there has been an outdoor rat issue due to the overflow of trash from lazy tenants, and while PTLA claims to be working on the rat issue, there is little being done or improved rat population wise. They instead blame the random cats and wildlife showing up to, maybe eat the rats and trash everywhere? Ive seen owls in the trees hunting rats at night, raccoons foraging amongst the parking lot garbage, its our own wildlife corridor right in the heart of bellingham! Rent increased this year because of "market reasons", with nothing but rats to show for it!

DONT MOVE HERE. Rats everywhere. Whole property smells like rat poop. Management neglects the property and is rarely present or reachable. Your rent will go up every year while living conditions go down the hole. Any tenant is accepted, so expect fights, parties, aggressive dogs off leash, and every weekend no parking.

It took them months to fix a door that was broken when I moved in, and they continued contacting me for weeks after it was replaced to ask if I still needed it fixed. There are cracks in the ceiling and dents in the walls that were not marked on the move in inspection, so expect to document everything floor to ceiling if you want your deposit back. My toilet and kitchen outlets will randomly stop working and maintenance does nothing to fix either issue, just telling us to "call if it gets worse". The on-site washers/dryers are expensive for how poorly they clean, are out of service 90% of the time, and have ripped up my roommates clothes twice. You can find a unit in downtown Bham for half the cost and twice the charm.

This place is horrible. Its cheap for a reason. Apt #357 has had cracks in the ceiling for MONTHS and Before even attempting to fix. There have been multiple instances of sewage water coming up into the bathroom and into the yard. PTLA / APEX management is horrible. Avoid at all cost.

Ptla management completely ruined this place. They have upcharged us on just about anything they could possibly think of and made every maintenance request feel like it was below them to fix. Don't expect your deposit back and take as many pictures as you can if you ever want to rent from them.
