I am a Platinum Elite member with Marriott Bonvoy, which I am saying because it tells anyone reading this I stay at this hotel chain all over a lot! In staying at this hotel last night, at about 8:30PM the smell of cigarette smoke over took my room and bathroom. I spent an hour calling the front desk to see if I could move and no one would answer the phone. At 9:30 when someone finally answered, she told me, "I will make a note of it in the computer"---great what does that do for me??!! I then rolled up towels and put them all around the door to the room to try to block the smell. I turned the fan on in the bathroom, which also meant I had to turn the light on and close the door and let it run all night. This was just to alleviate a portion of the smell. If I had not had an appointment in South Boston at 9:45am, I would have gotten up at 10PM last night and left and traveled the 3 hours home. When I got up this morning the smell of smoke started again. I got ready as I could and went to check out. When I told a different person who was working at the front desk the issue...she gave me the obligatory, "I'm sorry", which came across very shallow and just like what she had to say because I had a complaint. She then said, "I will give you 1000 Marriott point for the problem", really....that's the level of service for being in a non-smoking hotel and suffering with their lack of service to correct the problem or even care? I mean, I travel so much, I already get 500 points for just booking with them and walking in their door. To me it just seems it was bad service and the problem was not solved at all by the points. Not to mention....who ever gets room 342....you can probably expect the same problem.

I gave it 4 stars because the room would shake every so often and you could feel it in bed which was a little disturbing. I assume it was because we were next to elevators? It wasn't enough to make me switch rooms though. Everything else was good. Breakfast was good with some hot selections and cold. We didn't get to use the pool & gym but they both looked okay & a little on the small side. Parking was normal, location was close to some restaurants and convenient stores. Great service !
