Why is a retired principal Ms.Landers, able to use phrases like she's "training the kids" for their full time teachers when subbing? Why is she keeping fifh graders from using the restroom to the point of tears or having them walk out because she's ignored their hands up request after other students return from the lavatory? How can she ignore nose bleeds and uproar from kids concerned about their classmate and then tell at them to finish work while disciplining the affected child first for the sin of having a random nosebleed in class? Why is she allowed to get after my child, who has no behavioral issues, high grades, extra curricular activity-involved, Ned team, library ambassador... When she needs to sharpen a pencil? And go on to call the kids poor? My child felt discriminated today after a young boy, same race as Ms.Landers got up to sharpen a pencil, no problem, and once my child had to, the class got a lecture on "no one sharpens pencils until they're all broken, sit down" Today she asked the kids who wanted to be a basketball player and had a ten minute rant about Kobe to the class. When she said "if you don't work hard you don't learn. You kids are learning less and less.." a student told her "we're not learning anything now while you're talking about Kobe." To which she gets incensed like a toddler? Last year a math teacher had inappropriate contact with my child now she's being bullied and subjected to the incompetence of whoever is responsible for hiring teachers/subs. I cannot tell parents loudly enough to advocate for your kids and ask them about their experiences because not a single person has reached out over any abuse these kids endure. Mind you only after another student was physical with my child did I hear, because she broke down at lunch, and even then MY child was removed because "it was easier" vs discipline, suspension, or holding the violent classmate accountable. I held my tongue after stories of kids having medical issues or wetting themselves in class with this sub and she was gone from "permanent sub" position.. But she's back and I guess I have to figure out how Rice is happy to use finances to look clean cut and nice while ignoring the dirty culture that does not help even the best and brightest students. What about those without a bigger academic advantage to them? I can't even imagine. With the exception of about five teachers we've had the absolute joy to work with, overall the issue after issue with adults egging on kids instead of teaching is ludicrous to me. It took superintendent to resolve last year's complaint. To whom will it have to go this year to protect our kids, honestly? This school is a nightmare.
