I have been using My Family Vet for a few years now but I'm not sure if I will be returning. I no longer take my cat here because the last visit with him left him completely traumatized. They took him out of the room for tests which no other vet ever has and when they brought him back 20 minutes or so later he was drooling excessively, panting, and very obviously stressed out. He normally loves the vet and talks the entire time he's there. But every time I have taken him to the vet since he cowars and tries to hide behind me. He's 15 years old now and has gone to the vet regularly his entire life so I hate that that experience is now ruined for him. Especially since he goes more often now due to his age. Not to mention the visit was over $600 and I was just told that nothing was wrong with him. I still take my dog here because he has not had the same experience. But this last visit I took him to have his teeth checked and at his visit the vet let me know his teeth were fine but he has some mild tartar (his teeth were cleaned less than 2 years ago) but they could prescribe pain meds. I never said he was in any pain and to me it was obvious they just wanted the extra money since it was just an office visit. I scheduled a dental cleaning for a few weeks out and was quoted $400-$1000 depending on if extractions were needed. Okay, that's fine. I was also told that he could go first and be released earlier than the standard pick up time when I booked the appointment when I mentioned I would pick him up ASAP, but when I dropped him off I was told he would be done with everyone else and check out time would be the same. Also fine, but why lie to me when I make the appointment just to deny it on the day of? He ended up not having any extractions and it was just a basic teeth cleaning but I was charged over $600 and sent home with pain meds and antibiotics. When I picked him up I thought it was strange he would need any meds since it was just a cleaning and he was only ever given meds after when he did have extractions, but since it took them so long to bring him up I didn't think to ask the tech about it. He was fine, no pain and still not sure why he would need either of the meds for just a simple teeth cleaning. I brought him back a week later for an allergy shot and asked if I could return the meds since I didn't use them and was told I couldn't because it wasn't dispensed in a sealed container. I never asked for the meds and he didn't need them so why would they even be prescribed? This clinic seems to only care about money which is unfortunate because the care of my pets should be the first priority.

They are very good.. Not as high priced as allot of other vets. Also not as low as others. When I had to put my Bella down we were there for hours they kept her going while I could say goodbye to her.. and I got to take her into a room and hold her and love on her... There was never a rush I was there for hours it was so hard letting her go not once did they make me feel like I needed to hurry.. with my new little min pin.. she was a rescue and has a lot of anxiety with thunderstorms.. and they have helped me figure out which meds for her to feel better during them.. Her name is Bambi

The care of every pet that walks through our doors is ALWAYS our first priority!! As a privately owned clinic, we work hard to ensure our pricing remains affordable in our world of increased prices; and without the backing of big corporate companies we really pride ourselves in being able to accomplish this. Furthermore, our veterinarians are not paid commission, therefore if they are recommending your pet go home with any medication or diagnostic it is because they are practicing their best medicine. Our team at My Family Vet are all FearFree Certified, meaning that they are trained and certified in how to touch and get in touch with an animals emotions to help them feel more at ease. I apologize that this is how our actions were perceived by your family but I can assure you our entire team adores these animals and wants nothing more than for them to all live long and happy lives. I would love the opportunity to speak on this matter more if you are willing. - Josie, Practice Manager

Thank you so much for your kindness. We know how much our furry family members mean to us and how difficult it is to let them go. We have all been in that situation and treat our clients as we would want to be treated while going through that difficult time. We are so thrilled to care for Bambi for many years to come!! Please, if you need anything let us know! We are here to serve!
