Holiday Inn San Antonio-Dwtn (Market Square), an IHG Hotel -- CLOSED

We have stayed here before and had good experiences. This is the 3rd time for us to stay here. The room is damp and musty, the ac unit is coming out of the wall, and the pool is dirty. We did not go swimming the second day. The brightest spot was breakfast. The waitress was wonderful, and the cook did an amazing job. We definitely will have breakfast every day we are here. We more than likely will not stay here again.

Sebastian at the front desk provided the best customer service given the circumstances. He was tasked with accommodating the entire hotel solo on a weekend where the hotel is full of athletes. We had to CHANGE ROOMS 3X and now we thought we were making progress to a decent room, and the freaking microwave doesnt work. Lol if everything wasnt booked in town Id leave in a heartbeat. The first rooms entrance was soaked with water after showers, the second room was open when we approached it (totally sketchy), and the last one had no AC. Seriously, the front desk guy was so nice but was being bombarded with guests because no one was here to assist.

We stayed here this past weekend. Although we only stayed one night we had a very pleasant experience. The pool is nice, big, and clean. Our room smelled like fresh clean carpet freshener. Our restroom was stocked with towels. Our beds had nice clean sheets. The AC was blowing cold. TV works perfectly fine. The shower water pressure was ok my girls took a bath and water was very hot which we love. Everything was to our liking I really do not understand all the negative reviews. We ate breakfast elsewhere because we were traveling with other family members but my mom also stayed and enjoyed the stay. We also had parking. Only thing was the construction going on but hotel was 10/10 and we usually stay at LA Quinta. Rooms: 10/10 Nearby activities: Market Square is down the road literally 1 or 2 blocks down you can walk there. Safety: Family friendly Walkability: Walking distance from market square and the famous Mi Tierra. Food & drinks: Market square and Mi Tierra

We stayed here for 4 days. The pool was amazing both my kids (1yr and 5yrs) loved it. They have a nice kiddie pool for the Littles. The service from the front desk was great. The room was a Little small for 4 people, the housekeeping needs a little more attention our room had no soap, and didnt seem like it was vacuumed in a WHILE. The beds were soft perfect for our family. The AC was very cold perfect after long days walking around. The bathtub chalking needs to be replaced as there is mold starting to grow due to water build up, the bathtub plug didnt work so that was a little difficult to bathe our 2 kids. The hotel hallways definitely need some attention, there are stains on the carpet, very dated, and obviously hadnt been cleaned in a while. No one attended to our room during our stay like most hotels which was fine but 4 people in a small room it would have been nice to have it cleaned up at least once. The bartender let me know she did not know how to make any type of cocktail so she could only give out shots, beer and wine. The bar is the main reason we booked this hotel. The location is amazing, everything we wanted to do was within 5-15 minutes from the hotel. Theres a 50/50 shot I would book again. I loved the service given by the front desk the gentleman that mainly worked evenings was awesome and very helpful with anything we needed. Overall I feel the hotel could just use some good ole TLC and more follow up with the housekeepers. Nearby activities: Riverwalk, restaurant, San Antonio zoo, aquarium, Alamo, Japanese tea garden.
