Marriott Dallas/Fort Worth Westlake

I don't normally leave negative reviews but this hotel is just not good for this location or price. This is one of the wealthiest municipalities in the county, you expect a level of quality. Also I'm a longtime Marriott member and normally very much enjoy their hotels. What a disappointment. Cons: - rooms are outdated and stained and smell musty - 2nd day I found a huge wad of female hair in the bathroom that is very obviously not mine (clearly different texture and color). Not sure if it's been here the whole time and I've been moving it around or what. - hair dryer is covered in sticky gunk - somehow the regular hotel WiFi never works (I'm here with 30 highly tech savvy colleagues and their wifi doesn't work either) AND I happen to be in a room which is a black hole for cell service, can't even hotspot myself. - the conference room we are meeting all day in for several days literally has 2 options: arctic blast to the point way past uncomfortable or straight up turn off the A/C (which they did when we asked them to not make it so cold) to the point of broiling and we were basically finishing our meeting in the hallway - there's no place to sit and get ready effectively. The mirror is too high/chair too low at the desk for it to double as a vanity. The outlets by the desk area have a *very* low voltage maximum and trip if you try to use anything more than a phone charger. - bathroom is pretty good except the bath tub instantly is clogged right when you turn on the shower so the water accumulates Pros: - Westlake is nice and the hotel is set in a wooded area, great views from room - nice balcony on my room - the hotel-provided meals for our meeting are very good - the staff have been friendly and accommodating - as mentioned, bathroom is reasonably nice - parking is easy

The Marriott team found out my husband was having his 70th b'day and they went out of their way to make it so very special! Thanks to Stephanie, Nathan and Hagan! Very Impressive!

Good hotel. I like it but it needs some improvements. You can see it is getting older. Some evidences of leaking roof in the room on last floor.
