Dr. Sherman provides exceptional care and is considered one of the top surgeons in the Texas Medical Center. He and his team place patient care and family communication as a significant priority. From the initial consultation through post operative care, all questions were thoroughly answered, and expectations were clearly set. Dr. Sherman is the utmost professional and truly cares about the best outcomes for his patients. The facility and faculty at Methodist Hospital are a peer leader and they provided a very comfortable environment with wonderful and attentive nurses. Thank you Dr. Sherman and team!

Unfortunately, I had a really bad experience with Dr. Sherman and his team. I went for a umbilical hernia repair and the results were not as expected, and I completely understand that some surgeries do not go as planned but the problem was that his PA and also himself were in complete denial and they have not acknowledged that the hernia was still open. They gave tons of excuses to delay assessment and treatment. So, I really do not recommend them.

Overall, Dr. Sherman was very pleasant to deal with. Very kind, professional, and excellent bedside manner. However, he has absolutely ruined my life. I was referred to his practice in 2020 for a hiatal hernia repair by my gastroenterologist. I underwent laparoscopic nissen fundoplication in the summer of 2020. Initially after the surgery, I had the typical post-operative pain, bloating, and dysphagia. Here we are in 2024, still with postoperative dysphagia. Ive had 5 EGDs with balloon dilatation which only lasts temporarily. I am unable to tolerate any sort of meat, potato, pasta (basically any food) without washing the food down with room temperature water after every single bite. This in turn causes me to get extremely full due to the excessive water intake required to pass the food through the LES, making it impossible to finish a meal. It has caused me tremendous anxiety, as I can not enjoy a meal at a restaurant due to the fear of running out of water. I can not eat ANYTHING without room temp water with me. Ive also had a CTAP with contrast over the summer due to RLQ pain, and my hiatal hernia is back. I am back to the original symptoms I had prior to surgery: aspirating in my sleep, shortness of breath, fullness/bloating, and GERD.now with chronic dysphagia. Absolutely, hands down, the worst experience in my life. I have to live the rest of my life like this (I am 34). This surgery has caused nothing but negativity in my life. I 10/10 do not recommend a nissen fundoplication to anyone. I am not saying Dr. Sherman is a bad surgeon, as Im sure he has had many great outcomes. However, my experience has been extremely poor and overall changed my life for the worst. Devin Morris.
