My favorite James Avery store location. Can't beat the uptown scenery around it. Workers are nice and very helpful.

The day prior to Christmas eve my BF decided to surprise me and stop at this location to make a purchase. Very eager to start a charm bracelet we entered the store and immediately noticed there were 3 associates on the sales floor congregating. Not a big deal however, they didnt greet us upon entering (not even a welcome in or Hi). We begin to walk the floor and look around (which is a little confusing if you have never shopped there before). I noticed a customer came in immediately after me and the same floor associates who didnt acknowledge me greeted and met this customer at the door (1/3 of the ladys the other 2/3 stayed behind and continued talking amongst themselves) and began assisting her. I am an African American female, the associates and the customer were Caucasian females, I couldnt help but ask myself if I was overlooked due to the color of my skin, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Two more customers entered the store and like the others they were greeted and even assisted although no purchase was made. I began to feel so uncomfortable to the point I asked my BF to leave the store IMMIDIATELY and go elsewhere since we were not worthy of acknowledgment/assistance. . . After a long day of shopping this was our last stop, and we were less than 3 miles from home, so he convinced me to just show the ladies grace. After 12 minutes of walking the almost EMPTY FLOOR we begin to just stand in line (which I learned is uncommon; a sales associate should assist and notate the pieces/ style of interest and then they will lead you to the counter for final purchase) hoping to get some sort of help. After waiting in line at the counter for an additional 9 minutes with a very disturbed look on my face an associate came from behind the counter and FINALLY asked if she could help us with something. While completing my purchase I couldnt help but notice another African American couple entered the store (AND DID NOT MAKE A PURCHASE) they were dressed in designer accessories and they were also greeted upon entry and eagerly followed around by the same floor associates who originally ignored us. Saying this to say Im not sure what the problem was or why they didnt think it was appropriate to service us. Maybe it was simply because we were dressed down in sweat suits. I am honestly not a person to leave a review but the way I felt I was treated was unfair to say the least. I wanted to share my experience with other people who look like/dress like me or who could possibly face this same treatment. People who come into a merchant shouldnt be judged based on ANYTHING you simply help them because THAT IS YOUR JOB. IN VERY SIMPLE TERMS THE EMPLOYEES WERE VERY PREJUDICE and because I looked as if I wouldnt spend money (however that is supposed to look) they felt it was appropriate to disregard me. If it were up to me, I wouldve left without purchasing ANYTHING and I DEFINITLEY WONT be BACK!! However, If you do find yourself in this location Melanie was the associate who finally helped us and assisted with our $350+ purchase. The only reason why I gave 1 star.
