image Upon arriving at SOVA in my Uber, I instantly knew I had found the perfect hotel. It strikes a balance between being lively and bustling, yet still retaining the unmistakable downtown Dallas atmosphere. The trendy location exudes a cool vibe that I was seeking. As I stepped into the lobby, I was greeted by a clean and modern space adorned with stylish furniture. The well-stocked bar caught my eye, and the customer service representative was exceptionally helpful, deserving of recognition and a promotion.
Once I checked into my room, I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the Micro-Room. As the name suggests, it is indeed compact, and I had limited space due to my two Pelican casesone medium-sized and the other larger. However, luck was on my side as my partner joined me, and we were upgraded to the only room with a window. Although it remained a "Micro-Room," it was approximately one and a half times bigger than the original room.
Let's delve into the overall experience and discuss the pros and cons. To start with, the price of the original room was $113 plus tax, which I found fair. The upgrade cost an additional $70, and given my circumstances, I didn't mind paying the premium price. However, the room itself didn't feel particularly premium. The synthetic plants in the room diminished its upscale ambiance, and the bedding was disappointingly falling apart at the seams. Moreover, the shower tiles were cracked, and having only one light switch for the room was inconvenient. Although this wasn't an issue in the larger room with two windows, I can imagine it being bothersome in the windowless Micro-Rooms. Additionally, the air conditioner in both rooms had a loud knocking sound, making it difficult to sleep or take a nap.
On the positive side, I absolutely loved the simple and minimalist feel of the room. It was impeccably clean, and the comfortable bed ensured a pleasant stay. The fast Wi-Fi and the presence of a bidet were definite pluses.
The highlight of my experience was undoubtedly the speakeasy located on the third floor, specifically Room 520, which happened to be across from our unit. The drinks served there were truly amazing, among the best I've had in Dallas. I wholeheartedly recommend this unique experience, as my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Overall, I would rate this hotel 6.5 out of 10.

image Right in the middle of everything for a good price and the bar and service was top notch.
Rooms: Nice, compact rooms fit for an extended stay. Great for a solo vacation, but can work well for a couple as well.
Walkability: Tons of stuff is close buy as it's right in the middle of Dallas
Food & drinks: The cocktail menu was great. I had couple and they were well done.

image Rooms: More or less what I expected. Have stayed in similar places in Japan. Love the Japanese toilet, & the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Clean, although I did see a few stains on the carpet. Could use some minimal shelving so theres a place to put bathroom bags & a few personal belongings, rather than on the floor, & for soap in the shower. Also needed a place to hang used towels. A chair or at least a small stool would be nice to make it easier to put on shoes.
Walkability: Within a fairly easy walk from Red Coach bus service, city buses, & trains. I took the train from the airport there, then Red Coach out of the city.
Food & drinks: Could use at least some prepackaged foods & juice behind the bar. Had to walk a few blocks to find breakfast.
