I am in the Dominican Republic opening a Location. This person called the office stating he wanted our firm to review for 2 years, and then close the business for them. My staff called me and exppressed to me they seem to be in rush. Rather than explaining the process to a sales staff member to call back, I decided to call myself. I happen to be in a store like Home Depot called Bellon. My wife was choosing window shades. Concerned with a clients mattered I called to just explain the process.First he was operating in 2023 so a Final tax return was required to be filed end of 2023. You process and mark the return as final. This will not close the firm just stop the IRS and state from looking for further returns.Then the 7 - 8-month process starts, its passed from department to department to review and stamp all clear.The issue started because he wanted me to review his taxes he prepared in Turbo Tax. It’s now clear he wanted a yes its all good without providing the backup documents and information. We do this on a daily basis.I explained the best process is to provide me access to QuickBooks online whether his information or accountants version. We service over 3,000 clients by the way all hosted on our servers, this is how I can be anywhere and preform the services our clients require. I even offered to send me the profit and loss with balance sheet reports. Which, if your concerned about accuracy is a simplistic way to confirm information in my option. I like clients that appreciate the dedication I apply in my firm and is quite frankly my reason for success. His Red Flag was I required his information to preform the service correctly. My Red Flag is what is he hiding, he handled the bookkeeping and taxes and now is unsure and will not show me, something is wrong.
