The Texas DSHS rejected my request for copies of a birth certificate because they claimed there was white out in the notarys signature on the form I completed. They circled a portion of the notarys signature in pink highlighter where the ink was somewhat darker than the rest. (I was obviously there when the notary signed, and I promise there was no white out used.) So that was an utter waste of money. I want to thank other reviewers who recommended going directly to county/city records departments. The City of Houston processed my request quickly and efficiently.

The staff here, specifically, Lupe and CJ assisted me, and did a quick and phenomenal job! Extremely professional establishment. Exceeded my expectations! Thank you!

Such miserable, awful humans working in this office. And its a shame that since a government office, no one is held accountable nor do they care about customer service. The phone rep refused to help my mother, who had a stroke, couldnt even explain the policy she was attempting to uphold while discriminating against a disability. They even have a script now that allows them to refuse to put a supervisor on the line. I mean, if she couldnt explain why a government office has a policy in place that discriminates against an individual with a disability, I was sure her supervisor could. But she claimed she was a sovereign entity who had no supervisor. I wonder if all of it had to do with it being 10 minutes to end of shift.

Parking at the actual building is limited for the number of visitors. There were ample handicap spots. The office had 5 with dows staffed. Two security guards were present. I really didn't see a need for t wo officers. Reducing to one officer might allow the price of the birth certificate to be lowered a bit. I am appalled that since the office doesn't want to deal in cash, they charge $2.25 to procevss my debit card. Why .make . drive to " weird " Austin for a copy of a birth certificate just because a clerk mispellwd my wife's name. This issue could have easily been taken care of in San Antonio, my residence. To drive 85 miles for a ten minute office matter is insane. Nit a very efficient operation fot.the Texas Vital Statistics Office!

Worst government experience ever. If you need something like a birth certificate good luck! They keep sending the packet back for corrections or requesting new documents (it's something different every time), and the expedited fee is a joke. This has been going on for stretching into 2 years or so now I've been trying to get this resolved, and still getting denials/need different documents, etc. This agency/contractor REALLY needs to review and update their processes, this is obviously a broken system that is WAY behind the times. Just read some of the other reviews, you'll see the trend. I hope everyone stubs their toe and loses their wallet. For real. If you really need something you're better off having someone in Mexico forge the document for you than you are getting help from this group!
