Consumer: Ask questions before handing over documents. Make it clear why you are there if you have a specific issue
I normally file my own taxes. Simple nothing major. This year I received a letter. I'm terrified but I feel confident because I thought I was protected considering I filed through H&R Block last year. Fast forward...I called customer service initially they encouraged for me to log into the account and it would guide through the steps. There was a link to set an appointment if you received a letter so I took that approach. I prefer to meet in person. I felt uneasy upon arrival...I was not a fan of the lady at the front desk not the best greeting
I'm already nervous considering my situation. I was asked for my documents, I gave what I had
I honestly felt once I said "I'm really here because of the letter" that should have been the main focus
This was said before the tax prepare started inputting my data. I don't mind paying for the service I needed assistance on. And really this could have been avoided if the representative that I spoke with initially directed me in the right direction
Thanks to Julio l, who listened to me set me up with a new appointment directed to help with my primary concern
The lady that prepared the taxes was polite. I just wished she listened and solely assisted me on the primary issue that would have been worth the money.

I waited almost an hour for my appointment only to be told the tax pro wouldnt be able to work with me because they were busy. Then, when I tried to call the office later to follow up via phone, no one answered my call. Incredibly unprofessional.
