LONG POST ALERT.. We ended up BACK in the ER yesterday morning. Let me say this...Doctors and nurses PLEASE listen to your patients, ESPECIALLY a mama who knows her baby. After Dayla came out of her seizure, she started to vomit A LOT!! She was still limp but I tried to sit her up as much as possible. Her once dry cough was now very wet!! I told the Dr that I believed she had aspirated. He assured me that's not what her xray showed. I also told him that the fevers that cause Dayla's seizures are 100% of the time never JUST a viral infection that we just wait out. However we were sent home to "wait it out"... Saturday morning Dayla barely ate and didn't want to drink. She fell asleep and started shivering. Her temp was back up to 103.4 (this was an hour after her last dose of ibuprofen and 4 hours after Tylenol. I called her daddy and told him to get there quickly. We are headed back to Children's. Then walked in Dr. Peeden. My GOD was he a God sent!! Not only did he listen, he acted!! He told me I did everything right Thursday and he believes there is an underlying infection that was not caught Thursday. They did a complete blood panel this time, blood cultures and another chest xray... Dayla tested positive for rhinovirus/enterovirus ( which caused the initial fever and subsequent seizure) and as suspected, she had a secondary Pneumonia due to aspiration of vomit AFTER her seizure. (He and 2 other ER docs did not agree with the radiologist interpretation of Thursday's Xray) He right lung was suspicious even in THAT xray. He IMMEDIATELY got her started on a hardcore IV antibiotic and fluids. She was dehydrated. Finally got her to pee after a liter and a half of fluid. FINALLY her temperature started to go down!!!! He debated admitting her bc he wanted her closely monitored. But she made such a drastic turn around, he was comfortable letting us go home on oral antibiotics. And felt no one would watch her closer than me (got that right). Dayla is now taking it easy at home. She is eating and drinking but still tires easily. It hurts a bit to take a deep breath. But mommy is on top of getting her to deep breathe and cough. I am sooooo grateful for the calls, text and mostly the prayers. Prayers were answered as soon as Dr. Peeden walked into our room. Even her daddy wanted to hug him!!! You can tell he cared and was determined to get my baby better. I am so grateful. And if any of my Children's Hospital folks know of any way I can specifically recognize him for being so awesome, please let me know!!

Dr Peeden was such a blessing to our family and Coltin. He was having major issues from his Intussusception. Peeden treated our son as his own and reached out to a surgeon to talk about other options than surgery. He was so kind and not just a shoot you the facts doctor and walk out the room. You can tell this is his calling and he is so passionate about his work. Thank you for everything brother. Our family appreciates you so much.
