Emma James Boutique, Mercantile on Depot, and Sugar Smash are all owned by the same owner. I was a vendor inside Emma James Boutique in 2020. My personal experience was terrible. We had to consistently message to try get paid. There was a set date, but the money was never ready on payday. When I did get paid, the check bounced. I was told the first time that it was the banks fault so I called the bank and they verified there were no funds to cover it. I was also told it was due to the owner grabbing the wrong check book. I ended up being paid out in cash. I entered it through my pos system so I would have some sort of record for tax season when I got paid. After that I continued noticing red flags. It wasn’t until a fellow boutique owner sent me a video of a large portion of clothes I put in Emma James Boutique being in another local business that I realized the owner was stealing my stores merchandise and retagging it as hers. I filed a police report in September of 2020. The other local business was able to give me back my items. The owner claims we had a “wholesale agreement to where she could take whatever, whenever she wants out of her store without informing me and she would just pay me by the honor system when she sells them at wholesale pricing. There was no such agreement. If you are a vendor I highly recommend you keep your products out of this shop. She has turned the reviews off on Facebook on both mercantile business pages. I have several of my own customers and friends waiting on shirts from June and July.

Love the owner! She very welcoming and the shop feels very cozy and very well presented. A good variety of handmade items and prices are very reasonable.
