My son was coloring on the bed and left the cap off the marker which resulted in the top sheet of the bed having blue marker all over it. On the second night of our stay I took the top sheet off, set it next to one of the beds on the floor. That evening when we returned to the hotel our room key wasnt working. My two small children and I waited and my husband went downstairs to get a new key card. He was told by the front desk associate that the housekeeper found the sheet and when she washed it, the stains didnt come out so they had deactivated our keycards, forced us to pay $100 for the sheet in order to get back in to the room. I dont even know if this is legal. We went back down to the front desk because I wanted clarification on why we were charged so much. They said its their policy for damages. I asked to see the policy that I had signed upon check in. There were policies I initaled two, one was $150 for smoking and one was $150 if pets were found in the room. No where on paper could they show me where I had acknowledged this or any disclosure whatsoever of this policy. They told me well normally, we charged $150 and were only charging you $100 as if they were doing us a favor. I asked to see the top sheet and they went and got it for us, again telling me that the housekeeper had washed it and it was ruined. We ended up taking the sheet back to the room with us since we paid $100 for it I was going to keep it. I went straight to the sink and with their cheap bar of soap and hot water immediately got a few of the big stains out. It was washable marker so I wasnt surprised. We took the sheet back to the front desk and showed them the before pictures and after. The girl at the front desk she she was surprised and would have to talk to housekeeping. We demanded that they give us our $100 back since we were locked out of our room on Easter with our two small children, forced to pay $100 to get back in, scammed out of that money. We were lied to about them trying to wash the sheet, we were laughed at by the two front desk staff when we told them that this was not okay just to hear that its our policy even though they couldnt physically show me any documentation saying that to be true. We were even told by the same front desk person that someone had damaged a tv two days before and was charged $300. If your policy is $150 (as you said it was) why are some people getting charged $100 and some $300? Its absolutely a scam. I have worked and stayed at many hotels and have never experienced anything like this. I would 100% never recommend this hotel to anyone, especially those with children. And I would 100% never stay there again. I truly believe that they do this often and I cant imagine that itll be too long before their getting sued for it. I also took photographs of the state of the mattress cover and other sheets on the second bed in the room with a huge disgusting stain on it. Again, just confirming, in my opinion, that they dont actually care about the cleanliness of the room, they just want not do their job, lie to you, charge you and then tell you these sheets are $300 per bed. Mind you, I paid $78 a night to stay there.
