Update: 2/27/24 Our Reply to Mr. Schusterman: Contrary to your assertions, we were not shown the grommets, we were not shown where the grommets would be drilled (your 3D cad does not show that) AND YOUR 3" grommet per our contract ended up being 2.5". While still too big and oddly placed, you didn't even adhere to the contract you had us sign. We relied on your expertise to our detriment. If in fact your design team understood scale, we would not be posting this review, because the majority of the work was beautiful. This is why we are so upset. You'd rather lose a customer for life over 0.61% of the entire cost of the job of nearly $40,000.00. Bad business. This isn't about winning an argument. It's about design aspects, pleasing your customer and customer retention. As an owner, you should know better. We recently gave California Closets four jobs within one home which equated to almost $38k. One of the jobs was a dry bar that we designed as a very high end piece of furniture which costs $8k. The one request with this cabinet was the ability to decorate with lamps on each end and being able to hide electrical cords. Buyers be aware that CC generates all of their plans for manufacturing with a CAD system. If you're not trained on this architectural software, be careful when approving and signing off on your plans, as it is part of the contract you will be required to sign. Trust me, they will hold you to every aspect, regardless of customer satisfaction! Our issue was that the size of the grommets were not to scale (too large) for the depth and length of the cabinet AND the placement of the grommets are literally almost touching the edge of each end of the cabinet. Yes, that's what we got for $8,000.00! When we failed to resolve our dissatisfaction with management, we reached out to the franchisee, Mr. Kurt Schusterman, who basically dismissed our concerns by stating the following in an email: "I understand your frustration with the countertop and the grommets. We produced the job according to the signed plans we had, so we dont feel there was an error on our part." Here's the problem, the plans didn't show the placement or scale of the grommets, so how would we have known? Then he wrote: "I know for me personally, when we've had home improvements done and didn't like how it looked, we elected to pay to have the work redone (in this case, tile in our master bath)." Have you ever heard such absurd excuses? We've never had to pay to have work redone that we were disastified with! Then he wrote: "I completely understand your frustration and please know, we do indeed value our customers and strive to have exemplary customer satisfaction. It looks like you did receive our Buy More/Save More discount on your purchase for these four spaces." So, because we took advantage of a "deal" CC was offering, he felt this should make up for the design flaw? Can you imagine spending $38k and having an owner tell you that if you don't like it, you can pay to have it redone? Can you imagine not wanting to help a customer who has collectively spent $120K with their company between Atlanta and Nashville?Can you imagine losing a customer over 0.061% of the total job of $38K? Well apparently, Mr. Schusterman and the CC franchise could care less. Because, we are now stuck with an $8,000.00 cabinet that does not look right and was designed by a company that employs interior decorators. Let that sink in. Be careful when doing business with California Closets.
