I have been working at Maxim for about a year now. I like it overall. They pay is great. Scheduling is flexible. Great families to choose whom you would like to work with. If a family isnt a fit they have no problem moving you. Con is they dont have PTO and advancement is limited. In todays nursing climate it is a good opportunity

Had some great experiences coming in but they have gotten worse. Cant keep nurses or they always call out. It also would be nice if there were more diversity in the staffing. Ive had pretty bad experiences including racist comments, disrespecting my home after It was brought to their attention and micro aggressions and I refuse to deal with that in my own home. I can also tell SOME nurses were uncomfortable when I have family gatherings (family werent rude or weird in any way). Although Ive had some positive experiences, I just feel like it would be easier to have nurses that look like me. This is also an issue with a lot of African American families Ive spoken with and its unaddressed because no one wants to come off as prejudice. Staff is one of the biggest issues. Ive have meet and greets where both parties thought it was a great fit and they would disregard that trying to put the nurses with other patients than where they want to be. This also leads to the next issue with staff lying to the point that it creates issues with the family and nurse if the communication is only through Maxim. I have to communicate with the nurse to make sure there isnt any miscommunications or issues. I really hope they get it together.
