Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Rapid City

Pool is closed for renovations. Half the hotel is under renovation. I wish we had known that. The hallways/lobby area smell like paint thinner from work being done. The hotel next door is also under construction. So you have lots of noise. Continental breakfast was hard boiled eggs, yogurt, stale bagels, cereal, & muffins. We knew we weren't paying for luxury. But cleanliness could be stepped up. Thank goodness it was chilly in April and I could open a window rather than turn on the FILTHY air conditioner. I didn't have the guts to actually check the mattress. Minimal staff interaction(which we prefer). The TV's are not smart but you do have about 30 cable channels. HDMI hook ups available. The blow dryer was missing from our bathroom. Nearby activities: Very close to a shopping center with lots of stores and spots to get a meal.

OK, to review this place is kind of hard to do. You can't compare this place to a 5-star place because it is not, and they don't try to be. They are an average place that does a great job at being what they were meant to be. It's inexpensive and clean. What more can you ask for. I do recommend spending the extra few bucks on the suite. It's well worth the money. The breakfast area is well kept, and I have always seen an employee taking care of things immediately during the time it was open. They were under an extensive remodel while I was there, so the pool and top floor were closed, but what they called old and dated exceeded my expectations. I plan to go back just to see the improvements.

I will never stay here again. No hidden fees is a lie. Ive not paid more than $60 to stay here and I get charged almost a $100 and then the rude lady at the desk upon check in acts like she needed to charge me $5 for incidentals like Im plan to trash the room. Judging me isnt your job!! Checking me into the hotel is. I am a Wyndham member and this is how I get treated staying here. Never again. Breakfast is horrible!! Workers are not friendly at all!!!!!!!!! Im contacting the better business bureau on this establishment. Loud guests in the hallway at midnight and nothing was done about it.

We were given no warning that half the hotel is shut down due to renovation. So no pool, or hot tub. & you get to listen to construction happening the whole time. The hotel sharing the parking lot is also under construction. So, you guessed it! More construction. Continental breakfast was a few hard boiled eggs, yogurt, along with stale cereal & bagels. The room is ok for what you're paying (w/ a pet). The air conditioner was FILTHY inside & out. Tried not to even have it on. Thank you Jesus it's still chilly. Minimal interaction with staff (which my family prefers). TV's are NOT Smart TV'S. HDMI hook ups and about 30 or so cable channels. We watched a lot of Friends & I managed to catch Vanderpump Rules.! I do have to add that we weren't expecting luxury or anything. We knew we went with the cheaper option & ya get what you pay for. & we definitely did. Ya know, minus the heated pool as advertised. Rooms: Seemed outdated. Too nervous to check the mattress. Hope got me through the night. & a Lunesta. Nearby activities: Rushmore is here. We aren't going. But it IS here. Badlands are 55 minutes away. Worth seeing. Noteworthy details: Lots of construction.. In the hotel and very nearby. Call ahead and ask if it's still happening. We stayed April 2-5.
