I loved it- this was my first time staying at Surfwatch (Ive stayed at many other Marriot hotels on Hilton Head) and I loved their activities team (especially my fitness gal Erin whose activities I attended more than one person should even though Im really out of shape). Plus, their selection of activities (Gary comes here too!) such as the brotfest thing and competitions like putting or corn hole with the iconic ice cream and root beer floats, this place has it all. Youre even super close to the beach but its a pretty walk with lots of interesting signs with enough pools to go around. Additionally, their food at their local bar/restaurant near the beach is very yummy (my brother approves of the chicken fingers) but their pia colada is my favorite of all time- and they did it justice. Furthermore, the staff is always willing to help and the rooms are perfect- the paintings, the TVs, the beds, the showers, you get the point. Totally recommend staying here (yes I am begging my family to come back). Rooms: We stayed in a 3 bedroom room with a pull out coach and I loved it! The paintings on the walls were awesome, the TVs had lots of good channels, the balcony was spacious, and the showers made me want to become a germaphobe (as in shower 3 times a day). Moreover, the fans are nice and adjustable and the kitchen has lots of equipment with more to be requested (but it has enough to make lots of Jell-O). Safety: Much of the paths are lit up at night and most places require a keycard entry. Plus a security guard is always at the entrance to make sure no unwanted visitors come. Ill always feel a little unsafe as a woman if Im alone but I feel as though someone would help or I could get away at this hotel. Walkability: The hotel is really easy to walk around in as sidewalks are everywhere and the boardwalk to the beach is nice and wide with a perfect view. Plus the signs make sure you know where you are going. Food & drinks: The complimentary food (ex. brats and Bloody Marys) are always good and they never skimp on quality. Plus, the activity food is also good the strawberry ice cream is my favorite and Ive heard the root beer floats are really good. Furthermore, their restaurant pia coladas are Cristina-approved and the chicken fingers are Matthew-approved. Noteworthy details: I LOVE THE ACTIVITIES AND THE ACTIVITIES TEAM. Ive never been into fitness but I walked into the start of a meditation and religiously showed up during my stay to the morning walk and an afternoon workout. Plus, the actual activities are fun Gary always slays and the games they set up are actually fun (ex. at the brot party an activities team member Taylor sang Our Song by Taylor Swift!! with the guy singing because The Dixie Chicks and TS were outside his vocal range the devotion is amazing)
