Residence Inn by Marriott Charleston Riverview

The room being dirty wasnt the worst part of my stay - the cockroaches were. Woke up early after my first night to find them all over the kitchen and bathroom. Absolutely disgusting. I promptly checked out and found a nearby hotel that has much cleaner rooms and NO roaches. Crazy to even have to write that. Staff was understanding but offered to clean the room as a resolution - no thank you!! Not sure how a simple cleaning would get rid of the tons of roaches. Currently trying to get a refund as I booked my stay for 3 nights total and only stayed for one (one very gross night).

Even though its non-smoking, cigarette smoke permeated the room and there was not an option to switch to another room, nor were we offered any compensation. Room refurbished poorly and cheaply. Towels had hair in them from prior guests. Marriott gold member and this is not up to usual Marriott chain standards. Wont stay here again.

Loudest dogs I have ever heard, hotel does nothing, terrible stay and even worse hotel, stay somewhere else please, These dogs were huge and never stopped barking, staff dont care Money talks ya'll

UPDATED REVIEW The room I stayed in needed the walls wiped down, carpet vacuumed, and the mattress disinfected and lifted to check for insects. I got bit up each night on my neck and feet. The blankets in the closet and the one I asked for smelled like a dog had been wrapped in them and need washing. Please remove the sheets, blankets and towels after each visitor and WASH them. Update - I was able to reach the manager via phone to have my receipt adjusted to remove taxes since I was on government business. Darryl was the manager that attended to this matter and he did so with patience and promptness.

This was a very unpleasant property to stay out. I needed to change my room 3 separate times given the poor condition the hotel is kept in. I was first given a room next to the elevator shaft on the first floor. You can hear dinging nonstop, even though I requested in the form not to be put next to the elevator. My second room was upgraded to the poolside. I liked the room, but found a leak that left half of the bedroom soaked in water coming from the utility closet. I had to leave my new socks in the room as I dont know if it was a sewage leak. My third room smelled musty and had a broken toilet. The handle was disconnected from the cable and could not flush. My fourth room; the sliding door on the closet was off the rail and fell on me when I tried to open it to put my clothes away. I told the front desk to send someone to fix it in the morning because I was tired from moving around. Nice people, terrible rooms. Would not stay here in the future.
