DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh Downtown

I was "just visiting." Second time I played board games at this hotel. The room was nice(suite). Host complained about the front desk not letting her have a chair and she was a Hilton rewards member, otherwise perfectly cromulent.

I was very disappointed with our stay here. Especially given how expensive this hotel was. I understand paying for the location but that is all you pay for. The rooms were in poor condition. Scuffs on the walls, mold growing on the ceiling in the bathroom due to no fan in the bathroom. The faucet in the tub sprayed water everywhere when trying to shower. The refrigerator was sitting on the floor and very small. You have to request a room clean as well. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything your neighbors do. My mother-in-law tried to enjoy the heated pool but it was freezing. And there is no hot tub. We were woken up at 4:50am to a garbage truck emptying dumpsters. Very disrupting for a Saturday morning. Valet worked out nice, its $36 overnight and is charged to your room. I definitely would not stay here again. Despite the location, theres likely much better options nearby.

Good location, responsive lobby staff. Valet parking at $36 a day is misleading. Rooms have a general griminess (dust along carpet edges, mold on window frames, no exhaust fan in bathroom). Mini fridge is set on floor next to door, no microwave. Pool room and pool were very cold. There is no hot tub, which I would have expected. Not a fan of Hiltons Clean Stay program. If I book a room for three nights I should have the trash taken out and towels replaced every morning. Thats not a being green thing, thats a Hilton being cheap thing.

This hotel was dingy and gross. The only reason I'm not giving it a 1 star rating is because I was there for the NCAA Tournament and my team had a nice run while I was there. So maybe it's good luck. Check in process was overall smooth, but the staff was very rude and short with us. I noticed it with other guests as well. The walls in the rooms had scuffs all over them and the carpet was just gross. The shower didn't drain so you are stuck in 5-6" of standing water while showering. The valet parking system was a little annoying but overall not too bad. The location is good. We were able to easily walk to get coffee, food and get to the PPG Paints Arena for the games. I wouldn't stay here unless I had to, especially since it's so expensive.

Room was kind of shabby, and the bed had a metal beam sticking out that I tripped over a couple times. The pull out bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and one of the legs was my out of shape. I stayed at this hotel for a conference, and they only had one working bathroom on the same floor as the conference. The hotel refused to allow that bathroom to be gender neutral. They expected half of the attendees to miss parts of the conference to find a bathroom three floors away or return to our rooms. Doubletree either needs to keep their bathrooms in working order or have more reasonable policies. Rooms: Basic, but clean. Watch out for broken furniture!
