June 7, 2021: According to the banks website, the procedure for opening a new account requires two forms of ID. After providing my drivers license and social security card, I was asked by Perly for a third form of ID. She also asked if I was employed, as if that was another requirement? I'm a Black woman with over twenty years of banking experience(and only worked at the corporate offices), who decided to support Black-owned banks to experience being racially profiled by an ethnic employee. Shocked! I have my information and money to open an account and was highly disrespected at a bank by an ethnic employee. You can't make this stuff up. And I must admit, I was hesitant to open my account at this location, knowing the ATM machines have no privacy and people standing behind you, walking on the sidewalk, sitting in their cars, standing at the bus stop can see your deposits / withdrawals. In addition, Perly held on to my bank card for dear life. When she provided my bank documents and reading materials, my ID and bank card should have been returned at the same time. She can tutor me on the usage of ATMs without holding my bank card. I had to ask for my card. I don't know if she does the same thing to all new customers or she assumes I recently migrated from a third world country and never seen a bank. She was smiling so much and appeared helpful it was difficult to tell if I was being patronized. Nothing shocks me anymore.
