Daybreak - dysfunctional and needs urgent Improvement DSP (Direct Support Professional) - Salem, OR The typical day at work was fast but not without its challenges, such as emergencies needing to dial 9-1-1 and challenging personal care in the restrooms that sometimes involved cleaning the entire bathroom. I learned about I/DD, caregiving, bus operating, and supporting people with disabilities while maintaining their dignity and independence. The management needs to improve by providing more classroom training because they dont provide any training, aside from state mandatory like First Aid and OIS, which only come once every six months. The management needs to improve by learning healthy communication and building team skills with the daybreak assistants because they have a hands-off approach, which led to a lack of direction and insufficient teamwork with the daybreak assistants. Management needs to learn how to accept criticism from the staff without getting defensive or dismissing them as sensitive or too much drama. Management also needs to make staff aware of their job coaching technique because if a staff member is getting written up, its reasonable for them to feel intimidated. There was incivility in the workplace because of the dysfunctional relationships between coworkers and supervisors. The high turnover rate led to a feeling that the culture did not cultivate happiness or incentives to stay and even feelings that the supervisors pushed out those they didnt like for personal reasons. Many people chose this position because they thought itd be an easy retirement job; that carefree attitude isnt a great mindset for providing excellent services to those who use the program. The most difficult parts of the job are probably documentation, driving, and the caregiving. The most enjoyable was the positive interactions with the participants. Pros Benefits, meaningful work Cons management, hostile work environment, lack of teamwork, high turnover, lack of training, underpaid

What I have to say is important as I am 82 years old and I know she is disabled and needs her money. How many other people are they treating this way.
