The best Vet in Portland! I have taken several pets to Vista for over 10 years. Everyone in the clinic from the office staff to the veterinarians have always treated me and my pets with care and compassion!

I have an 8.5 year old Havanese that I have been taking to Vista Pet Hospital since I brought her home nearly 3 years ago. Gigi is quite anxious and going to the vet isn’t something she looks forward to. The staff at Vista, especially Dr. Thompson, have always been SO fantastic with my sweet girl. Even when she made/makes their jobs especially hard, they were/are so incredibly patient with her and did/do not let her anxiety (and the behaviors her anxiety manifests as) interfere with the level of care they provide(d). Dr. Thompson is so patient with her and is very mindful of how far Gigi’s tolerance has been pushed and doesn’t push it too far. You can tell she has a wealth of experience working with dogs who are more fearful and timid from the way she talks to them to the way she handles them and how she provides care. From an owner’s perspective, she is so, so great at explaining everything to me and answering any/all questions I may have. I really cannot say enough great things about her or the clinic in general. I am so grateful for the care Gigi has received at Vista, especially with Dr. Thompson, and never hesitate to recommend them to fellow dog owners as there is nowhere and no one else I’d trust to take care of my sweet Gigi.

We've taken our pets to this clinic for more than 10 years, and have had family pets that were seen for even longer than that (I'd estimate about 16 years in total). The care has always been fine (pretty typical vet care). In all that time, though, we must have never been late to an appointment, because I did not know how rigid their policies were. Due to heavy rain and traffic, I was 12 minutes late to our 20-minute appointment today, and the vet would not see our pet for vaccinations and told us we needed to reschedule. I had called them on the way to let them know there was heavy traffic and that we'd be late, as a courtesy, and they still wouldn't honor the appointment when we arrived. We left without rescheduling. They did confirm they would not be charging us for the appointment. Their policy is clear, and they are free to implement it as rigidly as they see fit for their clinic, but I think we'll be looking for a clinic that has a bit more empathy to unforeseen circumstances and understands the stress that is caused to a cat when making a trip to the vet. Also, I noticed a sign out front today that instructed clients to "be nice" or your pet won't be seen. This was the first time I noticed such a sign. While I recognize that services are experiencing challenges right now due to the pandemic and dealing with more frustrated clients, I do think that, in this case, perhaps a bit more empathy and flexibility in their practice and policies might render such a sign unnecessary.
