As the end of the year and tax season approaches, beware of hiring Amy Kennedy of Clarity Tax Solutions. We hired her to prepare and file our business and personal tax returns for 2022 and were extremely dissatisfied by her service. The first red flag was that she refused to release drafts of our returns until we paid in full, which turned out to be more than four times the amount charged by our previous CPA. She charges by the hour but she refused to include the specific time she took for each task included on her invoices. Since our business return was soon to be due, we reluctantly paid her exorbitant costs. To this date we have not received a final correct copy of our business return and proof of filing. She then provided us with a draft of our personal return, which included several inaccuracies contrary to the information that we previously provided. Several weeks before our personal return was due we asked for clarification and correction of the draft of our personal return. However, she became defensive and confrontational and refused to make any corrections unless we paid her even more money. We ultimately had to personally file an extension for our personal return. Thereafter, she did not answer our emails until early June when she resigned from our engagement accusing us of being terrible clients, bullies, and liars. We ultimately filed a paper copy of the inaccurate draft of our personal return and have engaged a new accountant to file an amended return. Several others in our community had a similar negative experience with Amy Kennedy and Clarity Tax Service. We and others have filed a complaint against Amy Kennedy and Clarity Tax Solutions with the Oregon Board of Accountancy and the Better Business Bureau. In response to Amys reply to our review, this is not a fake review and she is not being truthful. If you have any doubts we recommend contacting the Oregon Board of Accountancy, where we filed a 147 page complaint against Amy Kennedy and Clarity Tax Service, which includes extensive documentation of our communications with Amy that support our review.

After already paying thousands of dollars to file a couple years taxes, Amy kept demanding more and more money. For the work I had done, it should have cost at most $400, I ended up paying almost $3000 before realizing that she was never going to "finish" my taxes, but was just going to keep asking for more money. In the end, my taxes never got filed for one year and she lost all of my documents from that year (claiming I never gave her any documents and I had emailed her everything which was a lie), so I was never able to file taxes for that year. The year that was done took over 9 months for her to file. This was a few years ago, but I'm dealing with all of this again and just wanted to warn others to stay far away from this place. Edit in case they edit it, but their response is to claim that I was never their client. So, not only will they rip you off and steal your tax documents, but then they'll lie about their involvement. Real class act here.

I had a great experience with Clarity. Amy was attentive and professional. I didn't file taxes for 2019 as I wasn't able to come up with the money I owed. Amy was able to look at my taxes and fix the mistakes I made and instead of owing money I got a small return. Amy recommended the "Drop Box program for me to download and I was able to upload the information she needed, receive my completed return, sign it and send it back. Easy! I recommend Clarity Taxes for everyone!

I had my taxes done at Clarity Tax last year and was so pleased by the refund Amy was able to get for me that I’ve already made arrangements for her to do them again for me this year!
