I am a tenant at Anna Mann Apartments; Innovative Housing. We have been without hot water for the past several months. Tenants have been told , thats just the way it is and as more tenants move in there will be less water. I made a report to Portland Housing Authority and had hot water within days. But No One else has hot water and tenants continue to be told, that is the way it is, no hot water. It is hard to read these reviews. It not just hot water. The Management, IPMCO, refuses to have any dialogue with tenants instead posting notes on doors, all over the building, and property. Often Numbers are crossed out and replaced, numbers are provided but no one answers and messages are not returned. Asking for clarity, transparency or accountability is actively discouraged and when there is an email response it will not answer any questions but may claim, some insight into their policies but refuse accountability, transparency or again, answers to any questions. I thought it was common practice to provide tenants with a list of numbers and info related to how to contact management including phone numbers, email, garbage, recycling, mail, and other general info pertinent to tenants and especially in a complex as large as this. I have never experienced a property management company that refuses to communicate by email, does not return messages, actively discourage tenant self advocacy, blatantly violates basic housing codes and requires much time and attention to manage. It is difficult to read the raves about this apartment complex; tenants are grateful for housing even though draconian leases, demeaning and insulting practices that deny tenant agency or basic hosing rights like heat, hot water, the right to be treated with respect, are not assured for all or to any tenants to my knowledge. Even the physical attributes like doors, windows, cameras, stairways have issues there is no proactive or preventative management, planning or development. The management is aware of these issues-it is Innovatives obligation and responsibility as Innovative (as I have been told) is the owner of this nonprofit (sic). There are so many ways that the management companies and Innovators could truly develop communities and provide sustainable housing solutions. This is not it.
