I'm pretty new to Crossift and couldn't be happier with my experience so far. It's way less intimidating than I thought it would be. All the instructors are warm and supportive and the other members are friendly and welcoming. The gym itself is incredibly spacious and never overly crowded. The classes feel accessible to various levels of fitness and I'm experiencing different muscle groups are sore after every class! Today it's the glutes!

Ive been a member of CrossFit Risio for 2 months now and have a plethora of positive things to say. I started doing CrossFit 3 years ago while living in So Cal, and that box was everything to me. So after moving to Oregon my husband and I were determined to find somewhere similar, and I can confidently say that we have. All of the coaches are attentive, ready to help how ever they can, and overall genuine people. I love the programming and love the fact that its done in house. The members are also very welcoming and supportive. I would highly encourage anyone who is interested in CrossFit to check out Risio, you wont be disappointed!!

I joined CrossFit Risio about 3 months ago it's a fantastic CrossFit box! The coaches (both Nate and Jeff, y'all are so kind and helpful and knowledgable, and of course the owner Margaret when she's teaching too) are super great, and the owner goes above and beyond to make sure you're getting what you want to be getting out of the gym. They have all the equipment you could want for a wide variety of CrossFit activities. It's also well maintained, and there's enough of it that you're at worst/at the busiest class only sharing with 1 other person. The first month I joined I was overwhelmed with the intensity of the workouts, and Margaret noticed that I was working through something when she asked "How are you liking CrossFit so far?" She helped me understand scaling/how I could be adjusting the workouts for what I was aiming for, and it's been smooth sailing for me ever since. I really appreciated both her taking the time to walk me through that, and her proactivity in reaching out to me to see how I was doing both then and throughout my time at Risio. Sadly I've had to take a break for the last few weeks because of a bad case of COVID (caught somewhere else), but I'm excited to get back in and train again at my own pace with the support and encouragement of the terrific coaches and other athletes in the community at Risio. Miss y'all!

I joined CrossFit Risio (PE prior) about 2 years ago. I had been searching for workouts that involved more strength training, but included the class component since I was unmotivated to workout in the gym myself beyond running. Like many have expressed, I definitely had fears of jumping into CrossFit based on a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes (poor form, being forced to lift with too much weight, super competitive). Thankfully, this gym is the polar opposite of that. The coaches emphasize correct form and fully recommend choosing a weight that is challenging to the specific person, but still gets the appropriate stimulus. Ever since joining, I've stuck around for a number of reasons. The coaches are amazing (and all around great people), and do a great job of creating a healthy atmosphere for everyone to work out in and feel welcome. Second, I've never been stronger or healthier than I am now. The programming is well thought out and incredibly varied, and I always know I'm going to get my butt kicked (in the best way). Working out here has translated well to other parts of my life, whether that's PRs in half marathons or just being able to be more active in other activities. I also feel way more comfortable with lifting and overall strength training. Last (but certainly not least), the community. The community here is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and we all come from different walks of life and have different experiences. Everyone is encouraging and we cheer on everyone to accomplish whatever version of the workout works best for them without any ridicule. With how difficult Portland can be to make friends or meet other people in general, I've not had that issue here. Even after moving across the river to Vancouver and having multiple CF gyms be a much closer commute, I still brave the 205/84/5 traffic multiple times a week because of how incredible the community is. Simply put, give it a shot! It may be one of the best decisions of your life (like it was for me).
