This was, by a rather wide margin, the overall worst lab experience of my life, and it was 100% due to failures of the system and not the people working there. I actually felt terrible for the phlebotomist, who was spectacular at her actual job of drawing my blood, but obviously overwhelmed by the extreme inefficiency of Labcorp systems. I arrived and checked in at 6:30, their posted time for opening, and there were already six people ahead of me. That's consistent with my previous experiences from when this was a Providence run facility. Then I waited for almost 3 hours before getting called back. The lobby filled up with people shortly after I arrived. Most of them were walk-ins like me but some had appointments -- an option which was not offered previously. Even those with appointments waited for at least an hour after their scheduled time. This situation will hopefully improve as more people figure out how to make appointments and fewer walk-ins come in to gunk up that schedule. They also seemed to be adding a few more bays so perhaps they'll be getting more phlebotomists in there at a given time in the future. When they finally called me back it took a lot of searching by the phlebotomist to find me in the system, then she had to put my insurance information in again even though I already did it on the kiosk at check-in. Then she informed me that Labcorp would need me to put down a deposit for my blood work, totaling almost $300. I have insurance. I have never had to pay for lab work before. I gave her my credit card just to get through it so I could go home and eat a long-awaited breakfast. Besides the frustration of having to pay for such a basic part of my health care that I already pay so much for insurance to cover, having the phlebotomist do all of this office work just felt like an immense waste of time and resources (hers, mine, and that of every other person in that packed waiting room). If I had a choice about where to go for labs, I would never go back to Labcorp again. But I don't have a choice so I am at least going to warn others. Schedule an appointment before you go, and prepare to wait a couple hours even after that appointment time. Be nice to your tech / phlebotomist even through your frustration, because I guarantee they are more frustrated. The high quality of care I got from the healthcare professional who helped me is the only reason I'm giving this two stars and not one.

If I could give a zero star I would. Why Providence? I have waited over 90 minutes with no idea how much longer. I had to leave. Many people waiting that had to go to work. We can take a full day just to have a blood draw. Before the change it was so great, efficient and friendly. It is obvious that LabCorp has little staff and they are not doing anything about. Shame on you Providence for putting patients in this position. This change really has diminished the Providence system in my eyes. Can't stay, have to go to work. Thank you for wasting almost 2 hours of my time with no blood draw to show for it.
