I have found that Providence usually holds themselves to a high standard of customer service, so that makes my experience with Labcorp at the Providence Professional Plaza so disappointing. I would like to point out that my time with the phlebotomist was great. She was kind, apologetic, and efficient. I feel bad for lab staff as not only do they have a job that most patients do not look forward to, but they also have to hear about how awful the check in process is and how rude the front staff are. My experience consisted of waiting in a long line to check in via tablet. This was challenging for older patients, patients with cognitive or developmental delay, and non-English speaking patients. Then there was a 40 minute wait to talk to someone at the front desk, who was quite rude, and only confirmed the information already in the system. Then an extensive wait for a call back to the lab. During my wait, I overheard the front staff repeat PHI identifiers across the lobby, rudely tell someone they could not be registered because they did not know their zip code with no support or offer of help to find it, told many they did not have orders and no longer had access to Providence records and could not look it up- this was after the patient waiting 30-40 minutes, loudly continued to tell a non-English speaking patients to GO TO YOU DOCTOR FOR ORDERS AND BRING THEM TO ME! and on and on. Yelling doesnt help her understand the words you are saying. Im not sure why the change, but this was not for the better. Providence can and should do better.

They recently updated their software system and I have not seen an improvement. It seems ridiculous that we now have to scan our ID and medical cards to check in, only to be asked for them when finally called to the front desk (after almost 3 hours). Also the check in asks for your phone number and says that youll be texted when you can go to the front desk; I have only received a text days after leaving the lab. So the only way to get to the front deck is to listen for them to call your name. The employees at the front desk dont seem to like the process.

As bad as everyone says. Checked in on the iPad only to wait an hour to actually check in. Then over an hour to get the blood draw. All this with only 10 people in the waiting room when I arrived. Ridiculous. Ill be going elsewhere in the future.

Over 2 hours wait with an appointment. If you are able to drive there is no reason not to make the trip elsewhere, you will end up saving time

Horrible service! It is really sad that Providence contracted its lab services to LabCorp. They truly make patients feel like a number. Get your labs and get out. The registration people are grumpy and the lab techs are like robots.
