Got my refund back this week which was nice. I have come to appreciate the efficient process they have in place so I can get my information to Kevin, who sends the return in electronically. So nice to get this out of the way before the big crunch time of April.

I was fortunate enough to be at seminar Kevin taught a few months ago. From my perspective and based off of the response from the audience, Kevin is very knowledgeable about current tax code and prehistoric tax code. On top of that, Kevin is extremely engaging and relatable. Not an easy find in today's tax world. I would recommend Kevin to anyone in need of tax/accounting help.

The Worst Mr Minkoff websites logo reads: Not your ordinary bean counter. If you employ him YOU will add: that because they are extraordinarily BAD! I contracted with Mr Kevin Minkoff, CPA to perform accounting and tax preparation for the Tax Year of 2020. A contract was signed. Mr Minkoff and associates made many errors on my tax return, lost or destroyed important data on flash drives, and refused to make correction without further compensation. This is over and above the approximately $2,218 I had already paid to complete the return. Additionally the Oregon Department of Revenue sent to me a letter outlining the more than 15 arithmetic mistakes Mr Minkoffs firm made on my taxes. After many failed emails and phone calls, Mr Minkoff also refused to hand over the contract between he and I until I had to take him to court to force him. I had the return reviewed by another tax preparer, an IRS enrolled agent, to re-do the return at a cost of $4,950.The tax preparer reported numerous mistakes on the return. In addition I received a letter from the Portland Business Tax office regarding my tax return.The office pointed out issues with the return, which turned out to be costly. I asked Mr. Minkoff to response to the notice. Mr Minkoff sent to me a release of information form which would allow him to talk to the city and make changes to the return without consulting me. Having very little confidence in Mr Minkoff I asked that he talk to the city though, I asked that he re-send another authorization which would allow for information exchange only. He refused to go any further. I reported Mr Minkoff to the Oregon Board of Accountancy. The person to whom I spoke with stated the allegation appeared to possibly have merit. I am awaiting the result of their investigations. Finally word read and believe the negative reviews.

I would not recommend Kevin Minkoff if you want consistency, communication or accountability. I started last year doing project management for my bf. Since he is so busy with work, he has never been able to spend time making sure things are going correctly with bookkeeping or taxes. I got in and was able to and that when we started noticing how much this company lacks. I have been blamed multiple times for what is lacking for this CPA business. Their first bookkeeper wasnt doing things right so everything got really behind. They hire a new one and she has to play catch up which puts all of his clients behind. She was the only good thing about this business. We had to file an extension because they couldnt have things done on time, we waited over 7 months for them to fix an issue with filing that werent done right and we were being penalized for. Anytime you need to actually talk to Kevin, he never responds and just assumes someone else is. No one know what is going on, ever. They had multiple system changes that affected quickbooks so made things extremely difficult. If I could charge him for how much time I had to spend on things that they are supposed to be doing, we wouldnt have a bill from them. Most of the time no one is even there. Assistant is gone constantly. I could keep going but if you dont want to be blamed for the CPAs mess, I highly recommend not going here.
