The food is great but the company is very supportive in this bed and breakfast right next to the hospital in Portland. It is older and more comfortable than shinny newly built facilities. The shower had hot water!

November 2021- Giving 3 stars only because of proximity to OHSU. The Good: Very close to OHSU. Quiet area. Ease of "check-in". Off street parking. Food that was available was mostly from Trader Joe's, which I did appreciated. Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean. The Bad: Home could use some repairs/updates (seal at base of shower door hanging off for starters) and a slight odor in the house...stuffy/musty, needs some type of air freshener because it wasn't the most welcoming smell. Definitely needs some deep cleaning AND day to day cleaning (toothpaste splatters on faucet and handles (not ours and clearly multiple days/peoples worth) and layers of dust on surfaces in our bathroom). I was told there would be plenty of food choices and many things were verbally listed and I should feel free to "cook up some eggs or whatever". These things were not available. Had I known this, I would have brought my own food. I took one TJ's fig bar to tide me over at the hospital until I could get something else. Lack of security. Front door stays unlocked. Door should have code changed daily. Also a sign that says "Welcome to Inn at Marquam Hill" would be nice...I was a little sketched out just walking in (and honestly who could blame me in these times). Pricing is high for condition and amenities $120+ (oh and please for goodness sake spend the extra few bucks for hotel size shampoos...I do not want to share a full size bottle with random people and yes I bring my own, but either provide them or don't, but full size? Ick) The Ugly: The food was shared, meaning one would have to open a package (say like bagels), grab one and closed it back up. Same with what little cream cream was left in the container. Not a sanitary option (especially nowadays with Covid). Staff should be gloving up and making portions based on guest count. To my knowledge, there was only one other guest there but the kitchen looked like a group of teen boys had descended in there and left it a mess. I honestly felt like I was more in someones home vs a bed and breakfast (which is how it is listed). Listing the cleanliness (or lack thereof) here too. This place needs a professional crew to come in and do a once over and then daily maintenance needs to be done. Final price charged was higher than reservation. Only by a smidge, but still... A side suggestion would be to have the caretaker have a personal fridge/freezer in their own space vs taking up shelves in the fridge and freezer with hand written notes to stay out. At the VERY least, have a printed sign laminated for this purpose.

Wow, in a time of crisis for our family Ava is our shinning STAR! She has absolutely taken care of my sister and niece, which allows the rest of us so far away too feel hopeful and peaceful. Ava, your beautiful and we thank you so very much!
