I regret to say that my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. From the moment we entered our room, it was evident that maintenance was severely lacking. The ceiling leaked in the bathroom, the room was unacceptably dirty, and to top it off, the toilet overflowed. Adding insult to injury, the bathtub didn't even fill properly. Despite our complaints, the general manager showed a complete lack of concern and failed to make any attempt to resolve the issues. Overall, a dismal stay and an absolute disregard for customer satisfaction.

Note - this hotel has no elevator. You will be hauling luggage up the steps to your room if you're on the second floor! If this is physically a problem for you, this may not be the best place to stay. Pros: Decently fast Internet access (8-10mbps), recently renovated rooms (new flooring, bathroom fixtures), new carpet in the hallways. The furniture in our room looked like it was left over from this location's time as a Holiday Inn Express, but was in decent enough condition. The room had a fridge and a microwave, which is appreciated. The pool itself was showing its age, but the pool area was clean and well maintained. The pool is large and has an 8' deep end, but a shallow end that's 3' and shallow enough for kids, with a large patio surrounding it with loungers and tables for the adults. The staff were friendly and quick to bring extra towels to our room. Neutral: Pool temperature. Not warm, but also not cold. For small kids, a few more degrees of air and water temperature would have been beneficial. Cons: Walking in, we were disappointed with the lack of an elevator. Our room had a chemical smell (my guess is from the newly installed flooring) that persisted into the second day despite our leaving the window open. Our bathroom was dirty and had somebody else's hair near the baseboards. The external door near our room (door 'C') had a broken card reader and never locked. Breakfast was hot but not good (poor quality scrambled eggs, poor quality sausage, waffle machines). The missing stars are mostly for the chemical smell, which gave me a headache for both nights of the stay. I'd say the staff is aware of the problem, because the window was open when we arrived, and several of the empty rooms had their doors propped open.

I've had mediocre experiences here before and never complained about the usual cutting of corners since pretty much all low to mid-range hotels are doing it. The staff here are nice in general, and I don't place the issues on them. They only do what they can with what they have. This most recent visit will have to be my last, though. I strongly suggest not accepting Room 138, at least not for the remainder of winter. When my partner and I arrived, the room was in the 40s. That's not an exaggeration -- we could see a little of our breath after walking in. The heat hadn't been on in too long. We turned the old HVAC unit on high heat (no temperature settings -- first time I've run into this with a hotel in over a decade) yet it took about 12 hours to get to the point where we didn't have to run to the bathroom and back to avoid the cold (we spent pretty much the entire first evening under covers to try to warm up), and about 24 hours to get to where we were comfortable enough sitting on top of the covers. We had no idea it would take that long to warm up -- just kept hoping it would as soon as possible. The bathroom was icy since no heat gets to it unless you keep the door propped open (which also means more to heat). I reluctantly left the room about 7 hours after we arrived to ask the front desk if they could give us extra blankets. I requested three since the ones on the beds are really thin, but was told they probably didn't even have three extra blankets (!) We got one comforter that turned out to be (blood?) stained -- we kept it because we were desperate. We didn't want to change rooms at this point out of fear we would need to start all over again heating up another room. We were tired and had already put all our stuff away. My partner works in maintenance and suspected the filter in the HVAC hadn't been cleaned. Upon opening it up on Day 2, we discovered it couldn't have been cleaned any earlier than maybe a year ago. He brushed off as much as possible outside before replacing it. Not sure if it made a big difference by that point, but at least it was something. On a side note, for some reason, we got what appears to be a handicap accessible room, which we hadn't requested. If you're disabled, you might want to skip 138 for now. There are at least a few possible ADA compliance issues, such as the mousetrap hinges on the heavy bathroom door that force it shut when not propped open, and the fact that the toilet handle is on the wrong side. Like I said, I don't really expect much from any hotel these days, but I've never stayed anywhere this cold and difficult to warm up. My partner books the rooms, and he agrees that we just can't come back after this.

Dear Guest,I apologize for the condition of your bathroom and the leak. We made sure to take care of those issues for you when we found out about them. I was not prepared to comp your room as we made these things correct in the moment. I am sorry for your experience as it was a crazy weekend in general, but we appreciate you choosing to stay with us.Best Regards,Crystal Frazier, GM

Dear Alias,I am sorry that you experienced a cold room and a low working heating unit! I can most definitely tell you that this review is an exaggeration, also you did in fact book a handicap accessible room as we do not generally just give those away. The unit in your room was unacceptably dirty and for that I apologize! There is no excuse to stay in a room that is that freezing without asking to be moved so I do not understand your reasoning for staying and suffering and skiing in the "icy" bathroom. I am sorry that you will not be back here, as room 138 is not the only room here, and in fact is the only room left here with the ancient heating unit. In the future, I encourage you to let whichever hotel you are staying at, know that you are having issues DURING THAT TIME so they can make it right for you, as I would have done for you as well :)Best Regards,Crystal Frazier, GM
