South Wind Motel

TL;DR: After my time at the South Wind, I won't stay anywhere else in Columbus! I was in town for a few days on a work trip, and I can't speak highly enough of the staff and accommodations. The charming midcentury modern room was clean and comfortable, and I loved that the motel works with a local personal care brand for the in-room shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. The room also featured an electric tea kettle and a pour-over coffee system, with local coffee grounds. I was feeling under the weather midway through my trip, and when I texted the help phone for a feel-good soup recommendation, the staff member pointed me toward a delicious local restaurant (Aladdin's Eatery, for anyone looking). It was nice to know I could text the staff if and when I needed help. The small lobby had an old fashioned card catalog cabinet that held items folks may have forgotten at home, and it even included reading lights and a noise machine. There was a microwave, an assortment of teas, and a few snacks too. It was also secure, accessible only to guests via their room code after hours.

We had a delightful weekend while staying at the South Wind Motel. It's such a cool little place, with great mid century modern style! The location is convenient for visits to the German village and the brewery district. And we made a quick shopping trip to Easton in just 15 minutes or so. I would definitely stay at the South Wind Motel again. Rooms: Our room was very clean, and quite comfortable. I loved the style! Making coffee with the Chemex was fun, too. Walkability: We easily walked to rrstaurants for dinner both evenings of our stay, as well as walking to breakfast. Plus, a lovely park is nearby. Food & drinks: There are plenty of good restaurants near the hotel, making for lots of options.

This neighborhood is so charming and has everything you want in arms distance. The room is comfortable and service is outstanding.

A great visit that was equal parts charming and convenient. The decor is so classy and really takes you back in time, but without sacrificing any modern conveniences. I like that sustainability was built into the entire stay and that local businesses were highlighted whether it was the health and beauty products stocked in each room or the list of recommended restaurants. I felt prepared for my stay because all the information I might want or need was provided up front. Booking, checking in, checking out, everything was easy. Staff were reachable via text and responded quickly. My stay was comfortable and quiet and I would book again in a heartbeat! Rooms: Comfortable mattress. Instagrammable decor. High quality toiletries. Nearby activities: The Book Loft is a must-see bookstore! If youre looking for it, they probably have it! With 30+ rooms of books, youll delight in getting lost for a while! Safety: The parking lot is well lit and clean. Each room has extra locks that can be engaged when youre inside your room. You can see the whole property from your room. The lobby can be accessed with the same code as your room and theres no shadowy nooks or crannies anywhere on property. Walkability: Food and fun is just a few blocks away! The neighborhood is beautiful and clean. Food & drinks: Cool local places within walking distance, but also a McDonalds and Wendys nearby.
