The PA did not treat me with respect. Because of my allergies I was labeled a drug seeker and my pain was not treated appropriately. Before she knew my allergies she said she would give me pain and nausea medication in my IV (which took four tries to insert and was never used). I heard her in the hallway speaking disrespectfully about me to the nurse. The nurse had asked what pain medication usually is used for me and I told her dilaudid because I am allergic to morphine. Since I also have an NASAID allergy I heard the PA laugh when the nurse told her that and say no way. We are giving Tylenol and a steroid so I was given Tylenol for my 8/10 chest pain from pleurisy, and sent home still in pain. I understand that steroids are the best treatment for pleurisy, but one shot of pain relief would have eased my discomfort considerably. I would not have accepted a prescription for a narcotic; I have a pain contract with my pain physician.This PA didnt even examine me or listen to my lungs and heart. She didnt put her hands on me at all and barely spoke to me. I was treated like garbage by her; the nurses were sympathetic but could not do anything about it. She should be spoken to about this visit- I felt she didnt examine me to make sure I was ok. She didnt even take more vital signs after I was in the waiting room for four hours.
