East Side Design and Building Bathroom Renovation review Lets start this review by saying we LOVE our New Bathroom. Margus and Jorge did a great job on the construction side. From the demolition to the finishing touches, they communicated with us to make sure we were all on the same page of the plans. They put down paper and plastic to protect our floors and walls. They established a work zone to keep the dust down to a minimum. They were open to answer all our questions. The timeline took a little longer than initially estimated due to, in our opinion, poorly managed logistics. We should note, we only had one bathroom and a tight timeline to use a neighbors. This was known up front and we were made to feel confident the work would be done in a certain time frame. That being said, we understand things happen during any renovation. East Side Design charged for what they called An Expeditor someone to work with our coop management to push things along. Im not sure what the Expeditor did but my wife was the liaison with our management more than the Expeditor seemed to be. There was a delay of a week for the tile installation although we picked our tiles well in advance. We were told it was due to the distribution companys scheduler being off. We believed the tiles should have been scheduled to arrive once the work was nearing completion. A final note, we were also charged a design fee. The designer was nice and helpful. The down side, she was not local. We had to do everything remotely. Overall, here are a few things that if changed would have made our experience better. Not being charged for an Expeditor and having a local designer meeting with us in person at least to pick out the tiles and fixtures. We felt they dropped the ball on those things. Bottom line, we do love our end product and would definitely consider using East Side Design and Build again. Services: Tile work installation, Bathroom remodeling

We have had the same apartment in NYC for more than 40 years. I moved in in 1976 as the second tenant of a 1974 building. All the fixtures were contractor grade and, after 40 plus years and many more to go, a new kitchen and bathroom were needed. Everything we had heard about renovating an apartment in NYC was a horror story: cost overruns, unreliable contractors, etc. Having never renovated anything before, we were apprehensive, to say the least. We searched, planned, and vetted design build firms located in NYC for two years prior to our project. We narrowed it down to three, received proposals from them, and selected not the cheapest but not the most expensive either. They also happened to be located two blocks from our apartment. We can tell you without hesitation, you need look no further than East Side Design. Samir and his team worked tirelessly with us to design and plan every aspect of the makeover. They gave us appropriate push-back, presented smart options and alternatives, respected our wishes, and always kept their sense of humor and professionalism. They also kept us on budget! The only surprises we had were of our own making: pricing tile and then expecting it to be the same two years later. But everything that Samir was responsible for stayed consistently priced. Despite labor costs increasing during the pandemic, he kept his word and kept the prices we had agreed to. East Side Design managed every aspect of the project and worked with our building management, city inspectors, painters, and our cabinet makers. When the doors we wanted were going to take 6 weeks to arrive, East Side suggested their workers build them. They were perfect....better than what we were going to order. When we had a tricky tiling situation, they provided a beautiful, sleek alternative. And the work they did...all of it...was precise, artful, and done with pride. Our building manager came by the other week and could not believe the tile work in the bathroom. He mentioned that he had seen a lot of less-than-good work during his years. It was clear he was impressed; so were we.....completely, and with the entire project. We would work with East Side Design, Samir, Georgi, Karen, Gocha, and their team members again, without question or hesitation. We also recommend them in the same fashion.
