Of my 50 years of traveling, this was the worst experience Ive ever had. The staff cared absolutely nothing about guests. They put us in a room right over 2 weddings - one each night - where the floor was literally vibrating with the noise until midnight. Had we been warned (had they been transparent) we would have picked another hotel - but they already had our money. I would not recommend staying here if you value comfort and service. Our friends staying at Holiday Inn Express had a MUCH better experience.

Best to avoid for the money. It appears the owners must be treating this property as a cash cow - they are not investing in staff, service, standard amenities or staff training with the customer in mind. This is a bare bones operation. As other reviewers have said, hard to get service, phone rings all night if you need help, very few towels, extra pillows have no cases, blankets are made of that weird "foamy" polyester from the 1990's, the owners decide when you can use the fireplace, which is not until after 11/1 regardless of weather. People were not friendly. When checking out, no one even said, "How was your stay?" It was like checking out at a convenience store, but less friendly. The rooms are not "plush" or decorated at the excellence standard for spending about $400/night. Very disappointed. Our two-stars are given for location, view, being next to the castle....and the yellow lamborghini parked next to us in the parking lot.

Belhurst Castle and Vinifera Inn are located right on Seneca Lake with beautiful views and lovely landscaping. The Inn and the Castle are quite stunning with old world charm. Rooms are spacious but lacked many standard amenities that are found in just about every hotel. Large double closets offered just two or three hangars. The one bathrobe ( not two) in my closet did not look clean. Needless to say, it stayed in the closet. TVs are very small and limited. Rooms have fireplaces (gas) but we could not use them because the hotel decides when to turn them on. Temps were in the 40s during my stay but they were not turned on for use. The most troubling issue deals with housekeeping. Our 3 night stay started off fine. Day 2 left us with a room that had no fresh towels, unmade bed, no trash removal, etc. It took numerous conversations with front desk to just procure fresh towels which did not arrive until after 7 pm. I could continue but suffice it to say that the service provided fell far short of what one would expect for a $321/night hotel room. I recognize that staffing issues are a concern. But hotel management cannot simply ignore providing standard housekeeping procedures. Our 2 rooms were both ignored completely. No effort was made to contact us about the inability to attend to our rooms nor were we compensated in any way for our inconvenience. Lastly, our deposits for the 2 rooms were credited to just one room resulting in incorrect billing for both rooms. We notified the front desk at check in. Total confusion for the front desk. They refused to adjust the bill and told us to square it between us. We had to get the manager involved to authorize the correction ( which was a simple task). At checkout, the error had not been corrected necessitating another 30 minutes of discussion before it was finally corrected. In conclusion, the hotel advertises that it is a resort. They charge resort prices. But they fail to provide a resort experience Food & drinks: Continental breakfast was completely underwhelming! Nothing fresh other than just apples and a few oranges)was offered. Cheap franchise hotels offer better and more healthy choices. Edgar's, the premium restaurant, was understaffed causing long waits between courses. Very pricey for average food. One of my travel companions had the salmon offering He said the meal was a meal of risotto and asparagus with a small side of salmon. Not much of a recommendation.
