My son is at Chickpeas for his 2nd year and we love it! Where else does the teacher say "Smell ya' later!" as the standard farewell? :) The teachers are fun, truly knowledgeable about early childhood development, and provide the right fix of structure and love! We highly recommend it!!

I just started sending my 3 year old here this year- and I am really happy with this program. My son seems to have really blossomed just in the short time he's been attending. He loves the teachers and seems to really consider everything he is learning- the way he processes information seems more complex and he comes home talking about his experiences at school. I'd highly recommend! The buy sell days option and flexibility with aftercare have been great too.

This is our second year at Chickpeas. Chickpeas is a preschool with a mix of 3 and 4 year olds (UPK for the 4 year olds). Sending my son to Chickpeas, without a doubt, has been one of the best decision I've made as a parent so far. It's the most warm, loving, fun environment. My son has always had issues with separation anxiety at previous daycares, but after a couple of months at Chickpeas he was pushing me out the door, because he was so excited to start his day there. The teachers are amazing - kind, funny, attentive, loving and just so enthusiastic about teaching all our little ones. The school and the community are wonderful, but the teachers are really what make the school so special. Just last week my son was out sick and we got the most lovely message from the teachers calling to say they hope he felt better, and passed the phone around to the entire class, so he got a special get well message from each and every one of his classmates. Chickpeas really is a special place. I feel so lucky that I get to send my son there everyday.

Chickpeas is a wonderful co-op preschool with a Bank Street-influenced, play-based curriculum. It's a mixed 3s and 4s program, and they have a UPK contract for the 4s. (Keep in mind that UPK admissions gives preference to returning students, so it is extremely difficult to get into the UPK program without sending your child there as a 3 year old). We appreciate that they are open from 8 am - 6 pm, and the "afterschool" program, from about 3-6, is very affordable. They have a large outdoor play space with a sandbox, climber, dirt box, etc., and lots of opportunities to use it. They also do frequent field trips. 3 year olds mostly go 3 days/week - it is very hard to get a 5 day/week spot. All 4 year olds attend 5 days/week. The only paid staff are the teachers, so parents play a very active role in running the school through volunteer co-op jobs.
