image Too busy to return calls and too disorganized to make sure their customers keep their coverage. They are apparently too busy to keep us as customers. Im not a difficult customer. I pay my bill on time, i dont file claims, but I ask they communicate with me and return calls and emails in a timely manner.
The story: in June, we received a notice stating an inspector visited our property and found some stuff that our agent would contact us about. A month later we received a second, more firmly worded notice stating that we needed to address issues on our property and to see the report from our agent. Not long after we received a notice saying if the issues werent addressed we would lose our coverage in December. I called and left a message that I needed a call back. Two to three days later I got a call back asking me to be patient that she still had to compile the report. I received the report somewhere between 60 and 90 days after first notice (regarding defendable space and tree removal). I promptly contacted a tree contractor, got on their schedule, and shelled out ~10k to play by Allstates rules. The tree contractor who specializes in fire defense complained insistently to me at how unreasonable my insurer was being and how many trees had to be removed (down to shrubbery at my mailbox 30-40 ft from the structure). I told them I was happy to play by the rules and essentially clear cut my property. As an optimist, I saw it as an opportunity to landscape next spring. I submitted evidence of completion in early November. Yesterday (December), I called and left a voicemail saying I needed a call back asap. Tonight I tried calling again and by a miracle someone answered. I asked if I still had coverage and they said my photos were just submitted to underwriting for review (one month later). I expressed frustration that it took them 2-3 months to send me a report, I rapidly got a contractor to come and work within within 2 months. I gave them a month to get it through underwriting, but they were so unorganized that they didnt submit it until after my coverage lapsed a month later. They apologized (lip service), said how busy they were and essentially said to be patient that it should be approved in a few days. At this point, I would happily pay more to have an agent who returns calls and does her job (submitting required paperwork in a timely manner).
